You Guys Might Think I Am Crazy.. Wheels/Offsets.
Hey guys, I just bought 19's and decided that I made the mistake (what was I thinking) and I am about to sell them already ! I already found a buyer. I should of gotten 20's from the get go.
I am not going to tell you guys what wheels they are until I post up my 20's
Before I go order them, please let me know which route to go with.
Scenario #1
a) 20x9, +18 offset (245 tire) or would I need to stretch tires for clearence?
b) 20x11, +23 or +35 offsets with a 285 tire? I forgot if I have to go higher or lower in offsets with a wider wheel?
Scenario #2
a) Same as scenerio #1.
b) 20x10.5, +17 offsets with 275 tire.
Again, these are fixed offsets meaning the company has these options, you can't custom make offsets so I have these as choices.
I am going with the stretched tire look in the back. I currently have 19x10.5's with a +29 offsets on a 275 tire, which is the perfect "stretched" look.
To the wheel gurus, would SCENARIO #1 be doable with no fender work as long as I get stretched tires?
LASTLY, I know wheel lip has to do with offsets , NOT the width of the wheel. But guys, in your opinion does 11's in the rear make a difference in terms of looks than 10.5's?
PLEASE I NEED FEEDBACK, I AM ORDERING RIMS ASAP.
p.s. special thanks to my buddy TLW , he helped me alot.

For once i'd like to see somebody in the sc430 section pushing their wheel limits. It may not fit but doing some fender re-constructioning may prove to be very fruitful.
I'd say go with the 20x10.5 +17 but i'd go with 265's.
The rims I have on order are 19x10 +3 mid on 235's and 19x10.5 -13 w-slo on 245's. I know it is a little extreme for many of you but I'm not suggesting it, I'm doing this for maximum clearance.
but yea...265's. 275 if you prefer.

Thanks guys for your helpful inputs..
Now.. any reason why you choose against 20x11's? Is it because its not worth the extra ".5" of width because you need fender mod?
Just trying to get an idea because with the correct offsets you can do 11's, I am trying to figure out why doesn;t more sc430 owners do 11's.
thanks again guys !!

Those are good specs if you want to build a VIP-style SC430.
The question is ...do you have what it takes to MAKE them fit?
Stretch tires alone aren't enough at all.
You also need fender mods + a set of coilovers that can slam it.
Tein CST is out of question. I would get Answer or air suspension instead.

Also, don't mean to sound like a simpleton, what is the difference between Super Low Disk and Low Disk? I am assuming you get more lip with Super low disk . What are the draw backs? Do you need to come up in offsets?

I saw someone on vipstylecars.com used to run Maya RTS 19x9 +16/F, 19x10 +6/R on his uzz40.
However, the tire sizes he uses were F:225/35/19 R:235/35/19 and no rubbing issue according to him.
You probably don't need any fender mods if you are willing to stretch your tires that much.
For 245/35/F ,275/30/R and up, I seriously doubt it will fit without any fender mods.
I have been playing quite a few set of rims, tires and spacers on my sc430, so I am just telling you all this from my own experience.
High, low and super low disc definetely have something to do with bbk clearence. Depends on the spoke design, you most likely need high disc for bigger caliper from bbk.
Also, a low disk will have a larger lip size than a high disc since the mounting surface is shorter, which then allows the lip size to be lengthened provided both width and offset are the same.

Talwang, thanks for the very helpful advice. I needed advice like this from people who actually did trial and error, this makes it much easier.
You personally, would you do 11's instead of 10.5's?
If I have to I would do 235 for the front and 265 for the rear. I dont want to stretch it THAT much..Though this stretch how much tire life do I lose from this??
Thanks again !

I.E. a 10" wide wheel with an offset of 23 (like my rear wheel) is equal to a 11" wide wheel with an offset of 36. Keep in mind that both wheels will look the same in the fender but one will be wider.
On my car, I think I can put a 10mm spacer on the rears, and that would make my wheels a 19x10 ET 13. Keep in mind that I have my fenders rolled completely flat (had to be felt to believed) but i had my camber pulled, so its probably a wash.
Tire stretching is a black art. The theory is that the top of the tire will remain in the same place, even if you make the rim wider. To do this add only half of the above rule and use the same tire. So my wheel is a 19x10 ET 23 and my tire is a 275/30. So if i went with a 19x11 ET30 (which will add a half an inch of lip) and kept the 275/30 tire, the tread of the tire should be in the same place but the tire will now be stretched pretty good. So I get a 1/2 inch of extra lip just for stretching my tires.. But nothing is forsure when you take this chance... You may lock yourself into certain tire brands or sizes or you may rub.
Lastly, I would go with atleast a 245 in the front. These cars ain't light and for me, I think I would do a 10.5 wheel. Most tire mfg won't list a 265/275 as a proper fit for a 11" wheel. You may have to go 285/295 and then you lose your tire stretch.. And stretching really doesn't kill your tires more, its the camber or going with too narrow of a tire for the load that will kill the tires.

Honestly, I won't recommend those specs to anyone unless he drives like my grandma or has a second set of wheels for daily driving.
It is not too safe to drive on stretch tires especially you are an aggressive driver.
Also, you increase the chance to damage your rims in addition to tires.
For the front, I had slightly rubbing issue inside the wheel well when I made a full turn running on 19x8.5" +15 with 245/35/19.
For the rear, I had slightly rubbing issue at the fender (rear driver's side) running on 19x10" +20 with 275/30/19.
We know 19x9 +16 with 225/35/19 and 19x10 +6 with 235/35/19 are still free from rubbing according to Bryan, but keep in mind that his AutoCouture coilovers can lower this car more than Tein CST.
You need to do some calculation to determin which setup has the best balance for you.
It is hard for me to tell you the exact specs to go with because different brands of tires will give you different results even they are of the same size. It also depends on how low you want to slam your car plus your alignment specs.
If you have no problem of doing some fender mods when it is needed, then you actually have less headache for those specs imho (you can probably push even more).
For the rest of us, rominl's wheel guide is our best friend.

Here's the wheel offset vs width rule of thumb I use.. Add 13mm to the offset for every extra inch of width to keep the wheel fitting the same (or to keep the outer lip the same size) or subtract 13mm for every inch you take away..
I.E. a 10" wide wheel with an offset of 23 (like my rear wheel) is equal to a 11" wide wheel with an offset of 36. Keep in mind that both wheels will look the same in the fender but one will be wider.

*OR*
Go with 20x11 with a +23 offset and STICK with the 275 falken tire which from what the charts say from the wheel manufactuer it is still the same lip size of 105mm if I would go with the 10.5's with a +17 offset.. My thinking is the 275 tire will strech slightly more giving me more clearence..
I went through this with my GS and tired of going through with the SC, but I am glad you gave your inputs making my life alot easier !
btw, TLW and I was checking out the inner lining of the SC for front and back, DAMN how on earth do you guys modify it??!? MUCH different from the GS.
