Question ECT Power Mode

I'm curious as to how many people use the ECT power mode.
Do you use it all the time, part of the time, or never?
If part of the time, what conditions (e.g. a challenging teenager in an Eclipse), are present that prompt you to switch to this mode?

Cool

Found ETC very useful on winding back roads. It seems to hold gears longer, delay's upshifts, and keeps from shifting gears in the middle of the corners. Seems to make the car a little more snappy when driving off the corners. Normal around town and fwy driving normal mode seem just perfect.

I use it all the time! Gives the car much more power.

I never turn mine off. More power. Same gas mileage for me so why not?

I don't know, but when I first got my SC430 in July, I kept on power mode, but it guzzeled all the gas after very few miles. Since then I have left the pwr mode off and I'm getting much better mileage. Is this possible? My old sc300s seemed to have gotten the same mileage on both modes.

The chances are your NEW SC430 would have gobbled gas in either mode since new cars get terrible mileage until the moving parts get broken in and loosen up. Try it again now and compare the mileage. You'll probably see a small mileage loss for the pwr mode but not much.

I run pwr mode full time. Have been since '98 with my GS400 and now with the GS430. Why not take advantage of all 300 hp all the time?
