Only time will tell.

Would be nice if they do keep the SC and redesign it and drop like the LS460 and/or LS600h engine in it.

So it can compete with other convertibles like the SL, XKR, DB9 and etc.

Hopefully they add like an extra 12" in the back for people to sit sort of comfortably.

Would be interesting to see a 380 - 440+ hp convertible from Lexus.

Trust me I do hope they keep it and have a hybrid version.

Also I hope they put in some nifty safety features and the ML Reference soundsystem from the LS in this as a standard option.

From my (& many others I think) understanding, the LF-C is more likely to be what the IS350 hardtop convertible would be based on, not the next SC.

There is the LF-A concept, which have both a coupe & hardtop convertible test mules spotted testing on the Nurburgring. No one is sure whether the next SC will be based on them, or that they will be a seperate new supercar model.

I for one prefer the next SC to remain a 2-seater & not bigger, the competitors listed above like the SL, XK, do not really have usable rear seats or even rear seats at all, so I don't think usable rear seats are an issue at all.
On the other hand, I would like to see Lexus introduce a new coupe model similar to the mercedes CL -class that have more spacious, usable rear seats.

Would be nice if Lexus does something like that for the new SC, just make it longer so people can sit in the back, keep the hard-top convertible part.

Let see the SC is about 178" while the CL is about 197".

They could use the LS chassis (well over 195") pretty much for the new SC, turn it into a 2-door hard-top convertible coupe.

CL550, 5.5L V8 388hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 5.4 seconds
SC460, 4.6L V8 380hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 5.4 - 5.5 seconds
650, 4.8L V8 360hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 5.6 - 5.8 seconds ($78,800)

XKR, 4.2 L V8 420hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 5 seconds ($92,500)
SC600h*, 5.0 L V8 440hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 4.8 - 5.1 seconds
CL600: 6.0 L V12 517hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 4.6 seconds
DB9, 6.0 L V8 450hp ; 0 - 96 km/h 4.9 - 5.1 seconds ($173,000)
GTC, 6.0 L W12 552hp ; 0 - 96 km/h: 4.7 seconds (Approx. $173,000)

* If it ever happens

The GTC and XKR would be about a couple inchs shorter than then SC460/600h.

One thing I did not put the 997 Carrera in the comparison seeing its the same length to the current SC.

Would be pretty much similar.

Would be interesting to see the whole roof being made out class other than metal.

SC460: Starting price (Approx. $80,000)
SC600h: Starting price (Approx. $85,000)

Done and Done.

That sounds pretty good, but my idea is just slightly different. I prefer they offer 2 seperate different SC-like models, a 2 seater roadster with a convertible hardtop(SL equivalent)-Lexus needs a 2 seater roadster, & a longer, regular coupe with usable backseats(CL equivalent). It's nice if they offer a 4-seater convertible - but knowing Lexus, they probably won't offer as many variations as Mercedes anytime soon. But they will have a 4 seater convertible with the IS350 convertible anyway, but just at the entry level.

Would be nice too see something like that.

2 different SC's

One SWB like 180" for 2 seaters and another one with like 196" for 2+2.

Make it look similar. Thing is they make a 2 seater version it would probably hurt the LF-A.

Plus the IS convertible would probably be the same length the 180".

*shrugs*

Thing is the IS convertible going to be a 2+2 anyways. Which will probably start at like $43,000.

Anything possible.

Knowing Lexus, something like that will never happen.

Default IS Coupe/Convertible Replacing SC ? OR is the LF-A the next SC ?

I know with all the talk about the next generation SC, the LF models and the IS coupe coming...you have to wonder if this will be the only convertible offered by Lexus in the future? I don't know if Lexus would have another coupe/convertible close to this model. Even if the LF comes in a vert, it might be so far out in price that a lot of SC buyers might switch to something else. What are your thoughts?

I don't think the IS350 convertible will ever "replace" the SC, it's entry level whereas the SC is in a totally different, higher class.
Also, please remember that while we have seen the LF-A concept, they are not going to call it the Lexus LF-A if & when it goes into production. I think it's even possible they may call it the next SC but we have no idea. We just don't know whether the next SC will be based on the LF-A coupe/convertible concepts, or that they will market it as a seperate model . . .
