I've been looking for this info for a long time, and casually found it here. Interesting numbers, especially the steep decline in 2003. The 2006 numbers should be alarming to Lexus, as they usually go UP after a 'face lift'. Model changeover is just around the corner, so they might not even hit half the 2005 number. I'll be interesting to see how longer it stays alive.
By the way, where did you get that information? A link would be great. Thanks man.

It's from pressroom.toyota.com.
Go to "corporate", then "sales results", look up all their December sales result press releases for 2001 to 2005, & look at their "year-to-date" sales numbers in December for the SC430.

The changes for 2006 hardly qualify as a "face lift."

Nobody but a true SC afficianado can tell any difference.

I'd say it was a little eyeliner and a new brand of blush.

They will still produce and sell more SCs here in the states this year than BMW sold of my old car, an M Coupe, for all years and models thru out the world. What gets me is that BMW kept that "Lovely" looking car for 4 years and are about to release a new one.

And the real gotcha is that there is about twice the aftermarket support for the M vs the SC... But I found the SC numbers very interesting. I didn't think they sold that many...

Thats nice. Good find.

I remember way back in the day Lexus stated that they wanted to sell 12,000 the first year and 10,000 the following years. The first 2 years they exceeded their goals and was around it the following 2 years. IMO the SC is still doing good. In its 6th year I think the SC430 has aged quite well.

I have been seeing quite a few of the 06 SC's in Jersey and NYC now. Everytime I see it I snap my neck looking at it. The little improvements helped a lot IMO. Grill, extra chrome pieces, new lights, nicer looking rims(love that dark shade/tint the new wheels have), and the biggest improvement IMO are the newer colors. The colors look damn near perfect for this car.

well the sc430 isn't meant to be a popular car the way i see it. considering this is their 5/6th yr, i think it's pretty good selling around 7-8k a yr

Considering how little they upgrade for the 06 "facelift ", & none at all before that , what more can they expect . . .

Do you think the sales numbers will change significantly if they produce an SC460?

not really... But they would change if they produced SC350 that was cheaper. But I dont think Lexus wants to sell as much as they can by offering lower versions.

Going by the current pace, the just refreshed 06 SC430 will only sell about 6000 cars in 2006.
Had it been a 06 SC460 with 380hp instead of 288hp of today ,I would say it' s sales would probably at least stay more steady at about 8000+ as in 2005.

that's what i think. even with sc460, probably the sales would be around 8000 or so. not 5 digits.

fact is in most cases, it's the style of the sc430 that sells, not the performance

Henry hit it right on. Last thing I would want is Lexus to scale this car back in the market place by placing a 6 in it regardless of how nice the 6 is. Rarely does someone ask how fast the car is, they ask about the top, the wheels, the nav, etc.....
