Default Subwoofer Upgrade Fiberglass Box

Ok some of you might have read my other post

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ghlight=system

about just upgrading the 8" sub to a newer one. This was good for me at first but it didnt give me the deep hard hitting bass I was used to getting from my pervious system of 2 12's. So I went on a mission to create a small enclosure for my 8" sub. The 8" image dynamics sub hits very hard and iis deep. I think its comparable to most 10's and some 12's.

Anyways pictures speak more then words. In comparison the 8" sub free air was prob 2-4x better than stock and this new sub encloser is prob about 10x better then stock. Its an 8" Image Dynamics Subwoofer running off of a JL e1200 amp

Ooops I double posted some pics didnt notice till this mornin

nice setup...
I was wondering how it would be if you put one on the other side too... maybe another on in the stock location for 3 8"s...
since you made an enclosure for it.. would it be better to have a regular sub as opposed to a free air sub?

how do you keep the sub nice and tight there? or just put it in like that? i would assume it wouldn't sound as good if it's not completely "bolt" down to the car as a solid piece

agreed. isn't fiberglass really light too? maybe you can bolt it to the frame under the carpet? just a thought.

was planning to add one to the other side at a later time, been really busy lately. Took me two weeks to even post these pictures up. Also you dont want to put a sub in the stock location because thats where the bass travels into the cabin from the trunk. If you feel the back seat while its bassing you can feel it move alot much like the stock system.

doesnt move at all. I kind of made it to perfection so that I wouldnt need to bolt it down. I just shove it in there and give it a few taps and it stays in there. Its a very tight fit plus I put alot of carpet past the face of the enclosure so theres added contact. The carpet on carpet keeps it from going anywhere at all. I make alot of hard turns and drive pretty harsh and it hasnt moved in two weeks. I wanted to be able to access that small pocket underneath the enclosure if I needed to, or pull it out if I need to do some stuff behind there.

Default Very Nice Sub Tony

Wow that is awesome! Nice job. Personally, I like the idea of it being removable. I bet it rocks!
