Successful SC430 Key Programming
#62
I only have 1 Remote key. And it is cracked and probably is the original and was not replaced with the TSB.
I have bought a transponder key off fleabay and have not cut it yet and will try the DIY programming soon as it is cut.
Have to get a fleabay shell with the key cut by sending a photo and get the key code, that would be the way to go. Then just move the transponder over with a fresh battery.
Does fleabay sell just the transponder? If they do, I can convert my cracked case into a real viable spare key.
Having only 1 key does not feel good.

Any suggestions for getting a master key programmed when there isn't a Lexus dealership anywhere near me? Any chance I can take it to a Toyota dealer? All I have now is a valet key.

A Toyota dealer can probably do it. Just give them a call and ask.

I think I paid close to this a few years ago when I bought one for my 02, but here is one on eBay with the shell and transponder...all you need to do is cut and program.

Has anyone ever tried to use their “Key Card” to program a new key? My black plastic key card holder, with just the key blade in it, says to insert the key into the ignition and then hold the plastic holder by the key for 10 seconds, turn the key and the car will start.
So I’m just wondering if you put a brand new un-programmed key in the ignition and then held the plastic holder by it if it would automatically program the new key.
Any thoughts….anyone understand where I’m going with that??

This is what the guy that sold/cut my new key said about programming. Do you know if this is true for a 2007 SC 430?
The key must be programmed into the car using a scan tool by either the dealer or a service center with the proper equipment. There is no onboard programming method available.

I have a working remote. I need to get a new shell with the key. Once that is cut, do I then program the key (not the remote) according to the first post? I have a working master key that I would need for key programming.
Also, if you program a new remote, do you have to reprogram all other remotes at the same time? (ala my 2000 Taurus)

So I sent him the directions from CL forum and this was his reply:
Your welcome.
The programming listed below worked for some of the 2002 & 2003 model SC430. In 2004 Lexus changed the protocol in the ECM which made the use of a programming tool necessary. You can try the directions listed below, but I doubt that they will work on your car.

My key is comming UPS sometime this week, I'll try and program it and get back to everyone if it works

I have a 2002 sc430 and need a new remote because I only have one key.
I was looking on the auction site and they say to verify with ur dealer which remote works for your car. Unfortunately my only remote has the model number completely faded off, so I have no idea what the model # is. I even tried opening it but no part number in there....
Anyway to know what remote I have/need?
