Default NEW 2006 Lexus SC 430 (Confirmed Data)

The following FACTS on the NEW 2006 Lexus SC 430 are herein confirmed as follows.

The revised horsepower and torque rating per SAE test are, respectively: 288 HP @ 5600 RPM and 317 Lb. Ft. @ 3400 RPM.

EXTERIOR COLORS: (*) = New Color for 2006

*Tigereye Pearl Mica SE (4T2) "PEBBLE BEACH" Edition ONLY with Camel Interior, new Espresso Dark Brown Wood. "Pebble Beach Edition" badging on front fenders, console and floor mats. The PBE may also include matching camel color luggage.

Black Onyx (202)
White Gold Crystal (065)
*Mercury Metallic (1F2) replaces Millennium Silver Metallic
*Matador Red (3R1) replaces Absolutely Red
*Chardonnay Pearl (4S7) replaces Egyptian Sand Pearl
Indigo Ink Pearl (8P4)
Twilight Amethyst Pearl (3P6)

Apparently "Midnight Pine Pearl" (dark green) has been discontinued leaving seven (7) exterior colors plus the PBE "TigerEye Mica".
Without clarification, there is also a possible inclusion of two other standard colors: "Black Pearl" and/or "Capuccino Brown".

OTHER CHANGES:
- New 6 Speed Sequential Shift Automatic Transmission
- Updated Shift Plate Surround
- Revised Combination Meter Design
- New Headlamp Design plus AFS
- New LED Taillamps
- Revised Front Grille and Front Bumper
- New 5-Spoke 18" Wheels with Metallic Gray Finish

In 2004 and 2005 , the "Pebble Beach Edition" (PBE) for exclusive North American sales numbered 400 and 600 units, respectively. I have no information on the number of PBEs to be manufactured for 2006 at this time. I have yet to see a color chip of the new PBE color: "Tigereye Pearl (Mica)".

Unless indicated otherwise, all of the above information is CONFIRMED as of July 7, 2005

See http://www.lexus.com/models/sc .

.
The old specs from the Lexus web site:
300 hp @ 5,600 rpm, 325 lb-ft torque @ 3,400 rpm

not happy!!! was holding out for the 2006 hoping the new 6 speed would increase the torque, which it did, but why at the expense of the HP?

Torque is 317 lb.ft @3400 rpm for the 2006, so it's decreased as well

Detuned engine + 6 speed auto transmission = better fuel economy, I suppose with the 6 speed tranny, it ' s possible it could be just as quick as the current one . . .

Do'oh, had my backwards reading glasses on. I guess Lexus no longer wants performance from its coup. Too bad.

BMW's 645 convertable
Nominal power @ rpm 325 @ 6100 hp
Max torque @ rpm 330 @ 3600 lb-ft
6-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission

I liked the new look to the sc, but its tough not to look at the 645 when Lexus seems to be going backwards performance wise. I know, BMW is a soft top and more money, and their is a quality difference.

Wow, thats really odd. I wonder what the reasoning is?? I personally cant think of one cause the GS still has 300hp and the LS still has 290hp both mated to teh 6-speed. Wierd??

I like the redesign though. Looks good. I noticed LED headlamps. I assume the LED's are used in the DRL's like how Audi uses them on the A8 W12. It would be cool if its the low and high beam, but I highly doubt it.

While I can't account for a possible misprint by Lexus, it specifically reads "New LED HEADlamps" (Last CAPS are mine).

CORRECTED: "HEADlamps" should read "TAILlamps"

Anyone who is concerned with fuel economy on a $65,000 car should not even be looking at one. This is truly rediculous. What the hell are they thinking?

I checked on the Official data that I received concerning the HP and torque numbers. My info shows 300 hp and 325 ft/lbs of torque (no change from 2005).

That sounds better, from my understanding, you're a Canadian Lexus sales consultant correct ?

Barring a misprint in official and internal literature by Lexus, I stand by the original post to this thread. I can NOT speak for specifications and/or errors, if any, in Canada.

I triple-checked my original DOCUMENTED source regarding both horsepower (288 ), torque (317 ) and "New LED Headlamps".

CORRECTION: "TAILlamps" is correct.
