Pay for Extended Warranty???
I am buying a 2002 SC430 in the morning and am debating on getting the extended warranty, but at $2K or so, not leaning that way. My view is that it shouldn't need it. The SC has 60,500 miles on it, and therefore not CPO. Everything else checks out, serviced locally at Hennessey Lexus in ATL. I think I am getting a pretty good price, just no warranty.
Any feedback?!?!?
Thanks.

I also live in Atlanta and bought the Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty on my 2002 SC 430 that I bought in March of this year.
Because your car is over 50,000 miles, you have to buy the "used" extended warranty, and I think its called Gold or something like that. I would research what it covers as the Platinum warranty is an exclusion policy, where it lists everything that it does not cover, meaning that everything not mentioned is covered.
I think I remember reading that the gold used policy didn't cover the convertible top. That was the whole reason why I bought (and paid $2,000 ++) the warranty. I didn't want to be stuck paying to repair that top if something went wrong around 80,000 miles.
Really research it. I have to say, having the warranty now that my car has passed 50,000 miles has made driving the car a lot less stressful knowing that any major repairs will be taken care of.
