Question Those w/non-chrome Star Center Caps...do they match Millineum Silver?

I currently have a Silver SC-430 and have chrome wheels with the chrome star center caps and I was thinking of replacing the wheel and center cap with the matte, non-chrome wheels, to match the car.

My question: do they match the Millineum Silver Metalic?

When I looked in the dealer showroom they seemed to match the silver of the car, but a couple of people told me that they saw one on the road and the two silvers didn't match.

Anyone else seen it?

I have them on my car, which is black, and so I can't say whether they "match" the silver paint on your car, but I can tell you that they match the standard pie plate wheel covers. You should be able to see the standard wheel covers on a silver SC at your dealer's, since silver is by far the most common color on this car, and that will give you an idea of the match.

I have them and I think they match nicely on my `04 Millenium Silver SC430.

By the way, the two silvers will, I would think, never be an exact "match," since one is a plastic and the other is a highly polished (I hope) metallic laquer on steel. Still, I have seen a lot of silver SCs out there in the last 4 years, and have never noticed a mismatch between the silver paint and the stock pie plates, which are about the same as the replacements you are considering.

I think "close enough" is the goal here, unless you want to have a body shop spray them with the same paint that is on the car.

But who wants painted wheels? That's just another set of problems.

To answer your question, the star caps match the wheel color almost perfectly, to the point you don't notice the difference, but the wheel/cap combo definitely doesn't match the millennium silver color, which I believe was your question, but they don't look bad at all. From the distance, only a discriminating person would notice the difference, but at the same time, I've NEVER seen a silver car with matching factory wheel color either, so don't worry too much about it. Go for them.

I thought about buying chrome wheels and caps, but I would like that combo even less (too... 'pimpy'), so the silver wheels/cap will stay. Chrome wheels look awesome on darker colors, however. Or on gold (like my ex-GS400), since silver wheels look like crap on gold. Silver wheels on silver looks classy and understated.

Take care, and hopefully I answered your question.

It's not a perfect match, but I think it looks pretty good!

Looks good! You can't tell that "it's not a perfect match" from the picture.

I have them on my 2004 millenium silver SC430 and I agree with others that although the color is not the same, the difference does not detract at all from the appearance of the car. I like the way they look very much! Have you considered aftermarket wheels though? I just purchased snow tires for my car and bought a second set of rims at the same time (I had the snow tires put on my OE Lexus wheels and my regular tires transferred to the new rims for non-Winter driving). Originally I considered getting a second set of Lexus wheels, but my Lexus Dealer wanted $600 per wheel; for that price you can get much better wheels from Tire Rack and other suppliers.
