I don't know if I'm experiencing the same thing as you are, but let me briefly explain the kind of noise I'm getting recently:

03sc430
Dunlop 5000 DSST
8500+ miles

Everytime I merge onto a freeway, as I come up to enter into traffic there'll be a split or crack in the asphalt sticking up (mayber 1/2 inch or less) that's uneven w/ the road.

I go over it about 50-60 mph and suddenly I hear a "thump" on the right passenger door.
I get this "thump" noise ocassionally on residential streets as well when there's uneven pavement.

Has anyone else heard this "thump" noise?

Thanks.

Define 'thump' buddy. I hear awful noises when I hit bumps and such. I have the Dunlops, and only 1,300 miles on my '04. These runflats are stiff as hell, but what do we expect from a tire that can support a 4,000+ lb. car with no air? I'd categorize those sounds as 'thumps', since I cringe every time I hear them. Depending what I hit and at what angle, it might come from the passenger compartment, the cowl area, roof, etc. It seems like the car has no suspension.
I'd say it's normal, so don't worry about it unless you can duplicate it in relatively smooth streets. If you take the car to a dealer, they'd only drive the crap out of it without much luck; they won't do squat unless they can pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. After a dealer did that to my new LS, while smearing my seats with greasy shoes, and saying it's 'probably' normal. Just don't expect it to be LS quiet or you'll be disappointed; that's probably why it comes standard with a good stereo.
Good luck.

Detlef,

I think in English your dealer is tell you your tires are wearing unevenly and you need a wheel alignment. That may be true but my experience says take it to an alignment specialist to have it done.
