WTB: Soarer R154
Hey everyone, I've been having a tough time finding a Soarer R154 for sale. Seems easier to find a mk3 Supra R154, but I do not want the shifter sitting a couple inches forward. Does anyone know of anyone selling a Soarer R154? Any help would be appreciated.

Just buy a cheap r154 buy the extended housing from Toyota and make sure you use the swan shaped shifter off a w58 or r154 so it sits in the right place. Im currently doing this swap but going from w58 to r154

I currently have a W58 in my 95 SC300 as it sits. The 2JZGTE is already installed. The reason I wanted the Soarer transmission is just because of the fact that it bolts up to a 1JZ which is the same bell housing as the 2JZ and there is no need to mess with the shifter. I feel that altering the shifter itself will negatively affect the geometry of the shifter. Anyone who has this shifter mod done notice that it feels weird or anything like that?

Good stuff. Everywhere I've looked so far the Soarer transmission was only a couple hundred dollars more than the mk3 R154, both being over $1000. Then again, I'm pretty new to the Lexus modification scene (used to be a WRX guy), and I don't really know the best places to look other than ebay haha.

If you decide to go with the MKIII tranny R154, make sure you remove that center bearing and use a MKIV one. The MKIII is slighty larger and will not fit up in the tunnel correctly, nor will the holes line up correclty under neath where it needs to mount. The MKIV is smaller and fits perfect without any modifications.

You will have better luck getting gold from fort Knox than buying a extended shifter housing from Toyota. but in any case if you know of a Toyota that has them in stock please tell us and also do you have the part numbers ?

I have the soarer shifter, believe it or not, the early soarers used the same tranny as the MKIII supra, without the extended shifter housing (I have both cars in my garage). The only difference is the soarer has a curved shifter that sits further back. Let me know if you want the shifter.
