Sc430 Antennas
I originally posted this to Lexus Customer Service but it got redirected here. Everyone please disregard I guess Lexus didn't want to answer my question.
I have an 03 SC430. The car has 2 antennas (one in the front windshield and one telescoping
Antenna in the rear). Why and what does each do?

Basically the radio looks for the best signal from the two antennas and uses it. Since the antennas are several feet apart, their signals can be significantly different. (Just think about the times you've pulled up to a light and you have lousy radio reception. If you pull a few inches more, the noise will often clear up. Same with the two antennas.)

SC 430 Antenna
Thanks for the info.
My problem is I installed a new pioneer radio and it only has 1 antenna input vs. 2 like the original radio has. I've tried combining both antennas into 1 jack but the reception was worse than just having the rear antenna connected.

You can lose 1 to 3 dB of signal strength just from the connectors and Y. So it is not terribly surprising that it got worse.
