The Costs But Benefits Of SC430 Forum
Bought my 2002 SC430 3-07-15. Mileage was 48720 date of purchase.
Have read hundreds of your messages/thoughts/advice about numerous subjects. Beautiful, wonderful advice, comments but EXPENSIVE!
So far, I know that even though my car only has approx. 49000 mi. I need to replace timing belt, water pump etc. ( kit ) due to age. Appointment has been set. ( Approx. $750 + or - ). I also know that I need to upgrade my useless 2002 Navigation disc, Cost not yet known. Also, I am half afraid I might have a motor mount problem due to slight vibration of engine idle at a stop light. ( This seems minor but I ultimately want it PERFECT! ). Bought the car with Bridgestone Run Flats. ( I've already commented on that in a previous post. Hated those tires. Now, $1038 later, minus $ 70 rebate from Michelin, I have Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3. Smooth as silk. Sweet!
Please don't take these comments too negatively. Love this car. A ride in the countryside after dark with nowhere in particular to go and 2 CD's of "The Very Best of The Eagles" with volume UP A Bit is an extremely fine way to spend some time. Especially when you will turn 72 in 11 days as Bacardi11 and I know all too well.
Have fun people! Life is short!

I'm tired of you hippies riding around in your fancy foreign cars with your Rock and Roll blasting! Seriously though, you have summed up the essence of owning a convertible and especially the 430. Well said. Enjoy life now!

Exactly! I like Corollas, but I'm not pining for one.

A fellow NC SC430 owner? (I'm gathering that from your username) The weather tonight was awesome so rode top down for awhile to nowhere in particular just enjoying the weather and the car. That 'enjoyment' is where the money is going, totally worth it.. sometimes it is the simple pleasures..

Bacardi11, just left Naples on April 1 for home, Rochester NY. Will be back in Naples next winter. Mike, the SC430 is not cheap to maintain but the return on your investment is one of the best road cars around.

With you 100% Mike....I'm 65 and in Sarasota. Nothing I'd rather do in the evening then go nowhere in particular in the SC. I've had mine 3 months and only put 800 miles on it. 2nd car so I save it for fun top down rides. I enjoy it so much I'm shipping it back to Maine for the summer.

Yes, I agree with all that to own the 430 is expensive....but the fun outweighs the cost, which is the essence of every conversation. I enjoy so much putting the top and just driving! I am reminded, that yes, life is short.
