sorry to hear that.. I struggle to leave my car anywhere as people love dinging your doors.. people need to learn to respect other peoples things. Well what goes around comes around.

I wish you didn't try to bang it out ... call up one of your trusted local paintless dent removal guys...

I had a fist dent on one of my cars in rear fender ... i tried to push it out.. then called a paintless dent repair guy.. he made it almost perfect but told me that he wished I didnt try at it myself because it would have came out 99% perfect... anyhow it was still unoticeable..

Goodluck! and mount a dash cam..

MrMark... thanks for pointing that out.. I had a good feeling this car is made out of aluminum.. the reason I say that is I have seen many new Lexus/Toyota catch rust asap but have seen very old SC's with no rust and I always wondered that this car must be made from aluminum... never got around to checking but got this thought after owning an A8 in the past and they never rust so I was thinking something must be in common.

good to know
Thanks

Makecopies - I'm really sorry about that - just hurts reading about it. I came out of work a couple of years ago and someone has clipped the fender but the dentless guys did a good job. No note no nothing - there's a lot a totally clueless inconsiderate sub-humans out there ..l

That one is a beauty but $2k! Really light though. Have to attached with pins and I don't think it will hold up too well if it set upon. I suppose it depends if it's tinkerbell or tankabell.

Mr. Mark - do know what the OEM hood weighs?

That sucks, man. I feel for you. Some knucklehead keyed my ZDX a while back and the re-paint never quite match or as nice as the original. To rub salt into the wound, someone took the car for a joy ride while it was repaired - yeah, all around sucks.

makecopies, what kind of dent is it? Is it a small dent or a larger cave-in? If it is a cave-in, you might be able to use a plumber's helper (suction cup), wet the hood and pull it out that way. Otherwise I agree, have one of those paintless dent repair magicians do the work.

The hood is aluminum. The roof is nonmetalic. I suspect it may be Alumunum as I doubt it's fiberglass

The rest of body panels are steel.

Aluminum panel are normally replaced rather than repaired.

My Ford Expedition had aluminum hood and tailgates.

Both hood and roof are aluminum, I had a couple of dents pulled on my hood and the dent guy said with aluminum you need to heat it after the dents were pulled so it would stay in shape.

I tried the suction cup thing the dent pops up and then goes right back down. Just filed a claim. Didn't want to mess it up any more than it already is.

Sounds like bb430 is on to something. I agree, definitely take it to a professional. (Get some recommendations first. Don't just take it to anyone with a sign.)
