Default WTB: HELP, in a jam, need used sc430 rims and tires cheap

HI there, I recently bought a fellow members sc430. The shipping company picked up the car 9 days ago. I called today to see what time it is to be delivered. Instead I was told that the car was picked up from the seller, taken to a transfer lot where it had been stored outside for the past week waiting for a truck to take it to florida. They came out yesterday and noticed the car was on blocks. While it was there some f*** thief stole my 4 SSR SP3 rims and Michelin super sport tires. This took place in the Seattle area. The shipper says he will pay for the replacement rims and tires but they take 4 months to manufacture in japan and deliver. In the mean time I need to get the car rolling and shipped to me in florida. So I need to find a decent 2 sets of rims and tires for a 2002 sc430. Need them shipped to the Seattle area. I have checked CL so I thought I would reach out here. Let me know if anyone can help...James

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. I would be beyond angry. Heads would roll. It's not usually my path to take legal action, but I feel that in your situation it may be helpful to see if there's any additional avenue for this mistake. I can't believe they didn't secure your car in a monitored/security lot while waiting for pick up! Unbelievable. They should also be paying for your temporary tires/rims while they correct their mistake. Not cool.

Sorry to hear. Aside of their replacing the rims, ask if they can extend a discount for your loss of time.

I am asking for free shipping, free replacement temporary rims and tires and of course the ssrs which are $5k. we will see how this plays out. Though the shipper is insured I am sure I am about to be ****ed as my car sits on blocks in the same unsecured lot. and they are all Russian. now of this was known to me as I dealt with a none, reliable licensed and bonded broker out of florida. he in turn posts the job on a national board and it goes to the lowest bidder/shipper. that shipper picked up my car with no truck to put it on. so he called a local tow truck driver to pick it up and hold it until the shipper had a truck going to florida. which is not unheard of. but he should not have picked up the vehicle until he had his truck lined up and it should have never sat in an unsecured yard for 9 days. again the only reason I found out was because I called and asked where my car was. there was no follow through from the broker or the shipper in regards to where my car was day by day. in the mean time I need some inexpensive rims and tires delivered to Snohomish Washington asap

I would seriously seek legal advice. From all that you've explained, I doubt this will be the end of your headache with the shipper and transport company. Legal binding action will save you headache and enforce that things go as they should. Seriously consider it. Imagine all that can go wrong at this point that they've already ruined an agreed upon plan. Be proactive rather than reactive in anticipation of another "shortcut" by those in control at the moment. As for the rims or tires, you can always try TireRack.com. They have tire and rim packages.

If the vehicle was and is left unattended to the point of the rims were stolen, you dont know what else had happened to it. Scratches, dings cracked windshield, windows could left cracked open and left to water damage inside..... maybe I am painting a very bad picture here but anything can happen, especially AFTER the rims were stolen, some people may think the car has been abandoned.
So, yes, I would seek legal action here.

Wow that is unbelievable!

If you can't find what you need you might want to get some inexpensive wheel and tires from Tire Rack or Discount Tires. I have a set of OEM rims in VA and 1 used Dunlop
tire ...

Yep I am aware of all of this. I had the sheriff inspect the car as a police report was filed and she says there are no other damages she can see at this point but what to stop anyone from coming back and stripping the car. This has all been made aware to the shipper and the person who owns the lot. I have sought legal advise and the shipping company is fully insured but you can guarantee they are trying to figure out a way how to find cheap rims and tires, get it on a truck asap, deliver it to me and NOT pay for new rims and tires. If that were to happen I am sure my attorney would advise them that I will not take delivery of the vehicle unless the rims and tires are purchased with proof of a Paid PO. As of yesterday they were going to give me an answer but of course that has been pushed now until Monday. Though they continue to say they will be buying new ssr rims and tires. I am sure this is not going to end well for me.

Throw,

You may want to be proactive, get in touch with the previous owner and see if he still has the receipts for the rims and tires. The insurance company may want this to prove that you are not trying to scam them by upgrading rims/tires at their expense. Normally they assume that car had stock rims and tires and that's what they will pay to replace.

I had a similar experience when my car was broken into and an expensive high end Sony aftermarket radio was stolen. I didn't have receipts because I bought the car, 2 year old Nissan 300zx Turbo, used and it already had the radio in it.

I feel real bad that you're going through this and I have sympathy for you. Both my SC430s were purchased long distance and shipped to me in Florida. One came from Chicago and the other from Atlanta. I was fortunate that they arrived quickly and problem free.

Where in Florida are you located?

One more thought. Even though you may not have notified your insurance carrier that you purchased the car, your carrier may or should have 30 day courtesy coverage when you replace OR add a new car to your stable. I know that's the way State Farm works. So you may have a fallback if the Russians don't come through.

Still try to get the receipts for the old rims and tires so you're not in a defensive position.

all good advise, we have the rim and tire receipts and I put coverage on the car before it was shipped but other than going after their insurance carrier and contacting the state, and their bond company. I am not sure what else can be done to force them to pay. any member with legal knowledge feel free to pipe in.
