Default 2002 SC430 Bluetooth Adapter steam music

I have a 2002 SC430 with original ML head unit. I want to be able to connect my phone to play music from Spotify, any options to add a bluetooth adapter?

I used EagleTech/Arion Bluetooth Device. It's cool b/c you can forward/reverse track from the device rather than have to access the phone's player. You can use it with a cassette tape adapter or go the professional route with VaisTech SL3U device to give you a dedicated AUX input. I've linked both below.

Default ShawnOk thanks

Thank you for the suggestion. I may try the Vaistech unit. Do you know of any options for adding DVD to the navigation screen.

I feel that DVD in cars is a thing of the past (my opinion). I did a media player so I can play tons of different digital files. Basically, if you follow that full thread that I linked, you will see that i used NAVIKS to allow me to tie into the screen. NAVIKS (or NAVTOOL) would be required to give you an RCA input to the screen, and even the ability to add a rear view camera that kicks on when you shift into reverse. I went with the ASUS O!Play rather than DVD as I can hook up a 750GB hard drive which holds tons of movies, versus carrying around a case of DVD's. Seems like the old days of DJ's having to carry around boxes of vinyls. New Age, New Tech.

Additionally, another con with DVD would be quality as it would inevitably be limited by the screen's inherent resolution.

PS.. VaisTech makes units with Bluetooth but I dont think any are compatible with the SC430. 2006+ SC430 can use the MML, but I don't know if anyone has tried it or the results. The MML doesn't offer bluetooth though.

Tape deck adapter wouldn't really give Bluetooth without an additional device, as the OP requested a Bluetooth integration. Which I why I indicated the full professional route would be VaisTech.

It looks like to OP was looking to play music from spotify or maybe pandora. He may want to do more with bluetooth connectivity but if that's all he wants to do maybe the tape adapter will get the job done

I might be interested in this also.

Has anyone installed one of these in an 02?

Would like to hear some feedback on how well it works.

I'd be interested to see if this works also. There is an "application guide" at the bottom of the page in pdf. It indicates that the SL3B is only compatible with 2005+ Sc430s. Just something to keep in mind.

PS... It might cause loss of the 6 CD disc changer, as it indicates that it puts the unit in CD Emulation mode.

You wont lose the cd changer in the car . The device installs as another cd player

It appears that the SL3U is the only only one that will work on an 02-04.
It only gives you aux. input, no blue tooth, for $149
My $10 cassette adapter is doing that now.
I am not an audiophile so it is doing the job for me.
Might go to an aftermarket system in the future.

I tried another device by BlitzSafe and another by a Saudi company that does the same (CD Emulation) and you will have to remove the harness that controls the disc changer, therefore you lose the CD capability. I even tried a CD changer splitter harness. Didn't work. I thoroughly researched lots of AUX input options available on the market about a year ago. VaisTech SL3U was the only one that worked properly for my 2002 as a dedicated AUX.

Unless you've tried the SL3B MrBlister and know that it will work properly? Blitzsafe said they can change the software in the unit to make it work... I just went with VaisTech in the end for a single AUX and built my system around that.

Tennman, tape adapter is nice but there is background squelch as well as the clicking of the tape. Additionally, it is a little 90's. Just my two cents.

On a 2005 sc430 like mine the vais sl3-b will integrate in cd mode as another cd player and you wont lose the OEM cd player . I have the sl3-b in my 2004 gx470 and was thinking about putting one in my sc430. I spoke to vais and they told me I wont lose the OEM player . I will call them tomorrow and verify
it again
