Default Bigger Oil Filter for SC430

If anyone uses the bigger filter is better theory just wanted to let you guys know that the Amsoil EaO42 filter fits the 3UZ motor. It will increase your oil capacity from 5.5 to 5.9 almost 6 qts. I've been using this filter along with Amsoil 0W30 on my 06 GS430 for over 2 years now and started this on my SC430 last week.

Also filter related, FilterMag sells a rare earth magnet that snaps right onto the side of the oil filter. The magnet is so strong that it doesn't need a fastening device to hold it to the car. It's a sure way to collect all the ferrous metals floating around in the engine oil. YouTube some videos on FilterMag, pretty cool. I haven't got one yet but I think I will. Just wanted to put it out there and if anyone has used it, your feedback would be most appreciated.

Hey Gene,
Do you really use the Amsoil EAO42 Engine Oil Filter? I checked online and ebay indicated it does not fit our vehicle. Do you really see any difference in engine oil with this larger oil filter? Thanks

Very good information. I'll do that too. Thanks. AJ

Gene - I'm sure nobody thinks you are crazy. Simply folks have different priorities on what to spend on their mods. Some folk add bigger speakers or air systems which add weight but provide enjoyment. I don't race but love getting out on the track so any performance mods make me happy even driving around town ... It's all about enjoying your car while you can. I never had a fun car before and I'm enjoying it.

Guys - given that I want to have more track days, how 'bout I use the Dominator 10W-30 Amsoil engine oil with the bigger filter you suggest?

I am into weight lost. the front and rear sway bars add weight..my spare tire adds weight. my 3 piece Work Rims are light weight then stock. my Exh. is lighter then stock. my battery is only 7.7 lbs. the washer system for the headlights has been removed. swift springs lighter then stock. as you see I reduce weight as much as possible any were i can. like I said the lighter the car the faster it will go. I am a speed nut. at 71 that just me.

Yep. That's why I go to the track - am also reducing weight little by little.

What do you think about using the racing spec engine oil?

thats pretty awesome! i never thought of using a bigger oil filter. In many respects that makes a lot of sense. Might as well help the "bulletproof" nature of our 3uzfe's with a better filter.

If you want a REALLY strong magnet, find an old hard drive, open it up and pull the two magnets out. They will stick to anything metal, like an oil filter! Have Fun!

The Dominator 10W-40 is an awesome oil to use for track days. I know a couple of people using it on s2000's etc for the track. It also depends on how often you are going to the track, because normally the oils get flushed after a good weekend at the track on these high revving s2000's. The sc430 is not a very high revving motor so I'm not sure how much the 10W30 will help. If it was me i would run the regular 5W30 but get an oil change done after the track day (again depending on how much track time it sees). I would also definitely run the bigger filter , I would also add the filtermag magnet to it and also a transmission cooler with Amsoil ATF.
Most oil studies show that the most wear and tear on the engine is on cold starts where oil is not present everywhere where it needs lubrication (correct me if I'm wrong please). So the lighter oil tends to get everywhere it needs to be faster and thus help reduce wear. I don't track my car so I don't feel the need for a heavier weight oil infact I run 0W-30 and oil change interval is 7500 miles although the oil claims to be a 25000 mile oil.
