1st Snow Ride!
Had the SC out for the first time in snow today. As luck would have it my Blizzaks (WS80s) came in yesterday so I went and got them installed. Standard size (245/40/18) on stock wheels. Took the shop hours because people were lined up to get new tires before the storm that was predicted for today.
True to the weather it started snowing about 10am and by early afternoon there were three inches of heavy wet snow. I cleared off the car, popped it into drive and churned right out the driveway. Roads were sort of plowed (had at least one run by the plow on them but they are certainly not clear). Went to the grocery store for some Thanksgiving meal stuff and the parking lot there was a mess. The SC didn't have a problem at all. Braking was fine, no wheel spin or slipping at all. Of course I've driven in snow & with RWD cars for years growing up in New England. Went to school in Potsdam NY where it started snowing in Oct and stopped in time for college to let out in May. My other cars are AWD (Benz E350 4Matic & Toyota RAV4) so the SC won't be the only thing I have to drive in but based on today's run I'm not worried anymore. The reports I had read on here were starting to scare me.
Only complaint is that the "Snow" mode is only active for as long as the car is on. I have to hit the button again every time I go back out. I'd rather it was like the PWR setting which stays on until I turn it off.
Now back to turkey prep for me
