Default Patience, patience, patience

Hi Fellow SC Fans,
Well after years of drooling and months of searching classifieds here in Ireland I eventually got my hands on a Black with Saddle 2002 SC430, 3 owners, 58,000 miles. Trying to get an affordable (for me) one of these in good condition with low milage was a long and frustrating search, less than 100 sold here and only about 12 of the 06> so they are as rare as hens teeth. One Lexus dealer didn't even know what I was talking about when I enquired about the SC430. Suffice to say I viewed and kissed quite a few frogs which when examined more closely turned out to be exactly that. I trawled this site for information and tips so I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thanks to all the posters who take time to share their knowledge, experiences and advise to help in most instances complete strangers. Im afraid Im not too IT savvy so I will get help from my IT dept. (kids and grandkids) to help me to upload some pics.

Congratulations; patience indeed always pays off. You got a beautiful color combination and low miles for an '02. Enjoy and happy driving!

Congrats. I've been looking off and on for years as well. Hope to join the club sooner rather than later.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome guys. Im afraid its raining cats and dogs here lately (wife says whats the point in having a roof that can do that in Ireland). Also with work its dark when I leave and dark by the time I get home. As soon as I get a dry clear day I will take a few pics and get some help to upload them. Hmm, maybe I should have thought more about a boat.

Enjoy her. I'm down near Shannon with one for over 3 years now and am well used to their small but distinct array of issues and have solved some of them the hard way, including the oft intractable "front end vibration" issue.

I did the 2014 Cannonball Run around Ireland in her this year without even an oil change before or afterwards. I have her on a very very high spec synthetic oil which costs over 100 euros just for the oil alone on a service.

Great cars. I'm on about 110,000 miles now, a 2002, got her for €5,500 3 years ago in the recession, she was going to be expoeted to Singapore. She needed a tiny bit of work which she got and she been my daily driver since, averaging about 22 miles to the imperial gallon for me.

What to replace it with is the big one. I'd love an LS600h, but they also look like big Camrys sometimes.... How much are Dodge Vipers these days ? ha ha !!

Thumbs up Thanks for the welcome

Will post pics as soon as I can figure how to upload from my phone.

Graham:
Although this is only a weekend driver I know what you mean, driving along the M50 today and when I hit about 70 either accelerating or decelerating I get a lot of vibration. I have ordered a set of mister r coilovers which should be here this week. I am also going to change the nearly new tyres (triangle) which came on the car but frankly are rubbish for vredestein vortis which are very highly rated from reviews (better reviews than pricier mich SP2/3, contis, eagles etc). I had sessentas on a 240hp euro r before this car and really liked them.Hope to have these bits fitted before santa arrives so I can take it for a spin over the break. Ill let you know if these changes make any improvement, can't do any harm anyway.

Dude, did you get a discount since the steering wheel is on the wrong side??? Other than the wheels it's identical to mine, including year. Shortly after getting mine I had a paint correction done on it and it removed all of the little swirly scratches and such, plus had Opti-Coat applied which protects it for 5 - 7 years. Now I'm obnoxiously OCD about keeping her spotless! Congrats on your new vehicle, you're going to love it!!!

No couldn't get price down for steering wheel however the deal did include all the swirly scratches just like yours at no extra cost. Also got a few rust bubbles at the edge of the roof thrown for free Well she is almost 13 years old and the weather here means you would need to take the car inside to hibernate from october to may if you have any hope of avoiding the dreaded tin worm. A case of heart ruling head Im afraid but then lifes too short for regrets. Loving it so far. Cheers tdedden
