Default Brake pad question

I was about to purchase some brake pads from eBay. The seller is from lexus. The page said the pads will fit only 2003-2010. My car is a 2002 SC430. He asked for my Vin number and said that it will not fit my car and that I have to buy a gs430 brake pad. Is this right? My question is all the brake pads the same for all years/models?

Here is the page

Yes, they are different. If you go to Sewell's site the 2002 takes a different pad than 03-10.

The Hawk pads work pretty well from what I've heard, but another option are Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads (available through Tire Rack).
I've used them as replacement pads on a couple of my cars and trucks, and have always been impressed with their braking capability (far better than OEM), long life, and almost complete lack of brake dust.... and they are usually about half the price of Hawk Blue box pads.

Just another option......
