Default your valued opinion

I'm looking at purchasing a 2006 SC with 40k miles (non CPO). Its been thru the 160pt check and still on planning on bring it to my mechanic. Original sale price was 30K but thru Texas haggling got them down to 25,000. The car fax and service is totally clean. also opted for the spare tire vs the run flats. The car is immaculate.

I beleive Ive done my dd on the car thru your helpful info. Is the 25K I'm paying a good deal or do i need to squeeze them more? They are also offering a 40K 4yr bumper to bumber for 3800.00. I dont think this is a good deal. What is your opinion? Thanks again for your help.

April 2013 I paid $30,800 for our 2006 with 21,000 miles, I'd pass on the warranty.

I just paid 27K for the same car (Matador Red Mica in fact ) but declined the extra coverage - it's $1K/yr of repairs and that's not why I bought a Lexus. I've stashed the money with Mr Buffet and will let him earn me a premium. I did get a remote starter, new set of tires, new brakes & rotors and all fluids changed as part of my deal though.

Thanks for all of the great feedback. Ill pick up the car Thursday after I get a second opinion on condition - even though the sales rep said a little old lady drove the car!

Was she from Pasadena? I agree with the masses, pass on the warranty.

It looks like a sweet ride, and I would pull the trigger.

Pretty bulletproof cars. Pass on the warranty.

Buy it. Warranty is usually not worth the cost.

I've had a 2008 Matador Red SC430 for a little over 3 years. It’s the best car I've ever had.

A 2006 with 40k miles is a good buy at $25k. I see it listed on the Sewell site for $26,991. The dealer pictures show that it has run flats. Ditch them and get some nice Michelins. It rides so much better.

I also had a 2007 Silver with only 18,200 miles on it and the end of July I traded it in on a new truck which I needed. Dealer gave me $33,750 on the trade. They listed it for $43,990 but eventually came to their senses and it went for about the same price they gave me. That was after they put new tires on it also.

The Matador Red gets more compliments than any car ever. Tonight we drove it to dinner and back, top down. It was cold by Florida standards being 67dF on the way home. We loved it.

Looking at the pictures, the antenna is extended. It should only be extended when radio is turned on. When radio is off it should retract completely..

Check it out before signing on the dotted line.

Default Tires?

The dealer website advertises a temporary spare tire. How do you know know the are run flats. They told me they weren't. Thanks for picking out the antenna.

The tread pattern on the tires in the Sewell site look like they are Dunlop 50000 run flats.

Pic from Sewell site and pic of Dunlop Run flats from Tire Rack site for comparison

No on the warranty yes on the car. I passed on an extended 3 yr warranty because once you pass that window the cost of the warranty is still in the monthly payments on year 4 and 5. I paid the car off in 2 months but it wasn't planned that way. I used the fact that I'd be possibly be stuck paying for something for two more years that I couldn't even use to talk me out of it. Just keep that $3k to the side in savings for the "just in case" situation.
