Yes and yes. Used the latest NavRGB 2.0 version of NAVTool. The actual part number was NAVRGB+TL10, which includes the correct adapter cable. There is a nice write-up / Pictorial on a 2008 SC430 on this site and the install guide provided by NAVTool is very good.

NAVIKS is another company and I'm very happy with my results. They were also very helpful via the phone for any questions I had during my install and the instructions were spot on.

I've done a couple of the NavTool installations.

My own, plus JohnnyCakes (the old version).

He started have some intermittent issues with his recently, and we ended up swapping it out with the new version of the NavTool. Fundamentally the same but, the newer one is a bit nicer, and better made.

Both are straightforward installations.

Has anyone added the ability to turn to n the camera to see the rear while driving? Like using the rear view mirror but close to eye level - would make a quck check less distracting when at track speeds.

Any ideas on how to do it with a switch or something?

With the current model NAVTOOL, you could connect another rear view camera to the Video 1 input and use the push button switch to select Video 1. This second camera could be adjusted for a different / better rear viewing angle. You would also have to ground the NAVTOOL's Gray Parking Brake input wire for Video 1 to function while on the track.

If you install the NAVTOOL push button switch, you can use the switch to select the car's Nav screen input as per this info from the NAVTOOL's install guide :
Operating NavTool interface via push button:
Single push will cycle between Video 1 and Video 2, press and hold push button for more than 2 seconds to return back to the original navigation/information screen. Aftermarket camera can be easily viewed while driving by installing push button, no extra wiring is required.

That's awesome and worth trying.

Thanks much formthe advice. No way to use a single camera with
The two functions (in reverse or driving). The different view you mention is a valid point though - I need a further look back less angle view for the track.

Thanks again

I bought the Navisk unit a while back. However I hate to admit its still in the box. I have been to lazy to install it. Hope it works when i finally install it. I plan to hook up a front camera on the extra video input.

Where do you buy the camera itself ?
If you have the Navik interface, what
kind of camera do you look for ?

Conduct your search on eBay or Amazon. Most members choose the camera mounted on the license plate frame.

I bought this Boyo unit off Amazon for my backup camera.

DiggerJim, how was the install? Working good? Price wise compared to NAV tool? Thanks.

The Boyo camera is in addition to the NAV TL10 unit. The NAV unit just provides an interface between different audio-video sources and the stock head unit on the car so it needs input from one or more cameras and/or DVD players. The Boyo is the camera I picked to use for the camera input which goes to the NAV unit. The NAV unit plugs into the car's navigation/entertainment head controller which is located in the trunk. When I put the car in reverse the display in the dash shows the rearview camera and when it's not in reverse it reverts to normal display and turns the camera off.

You need both the camera and the NAV TL10 to get backup camera functionality.

Jim
