Grill

Though at first glance they look very similar to the earlier models, the 2006+ front ends are entirely different.
The grills themselves are completely different in size and shape, and they mount differently to the bumper cover:
2006+ (lower portion is tapered and center piece is not removable - it's molded into the bars. Mounts with a molded slot/tab arrangement at bottom)
2002-2005 (lower portion is rounded, wider, and center piece is removable with one screw. The bars underneath go all the way across. Mounts with clips at the bottom)
I guess you could get an earlier grill and chop it up and hack it to make it fit, but by the time you do that, you may as well just build one from scratch... no easy answer I'm afraid.

There are many sources that state that the earlier grills are not interchangeable with the 2006+ grills.

You have made a great job of the grill, as you say changed the look of the car completely.
Be good to see a photo straight on rather than looking down at it.
I think you should leave it 'as is', it looks superb.

So anyway, it's a little dirty after the weekend's trip to the beach, but here you go:

Looks really good.
If you painted the fins brighter silver and the ends that taper back body colour that would make it appear that the grill was 'floating' if you get what I mean!!
I did not realise how different the grills are, they appear the same at first glance.
The front of our cars look so much better without the reg plate we have to have in the UK, so much cleaner looking.
Hope you had a good weekend at the beach, been raining and cold here all day, but that is not unusual for a British Bank Holiday. lol
Cheers

Painting grille
[QUOTE=NAmVet68;8681531]
I am trying to get my grille painted the same as yours, but many body shops say painting over plastic chrome is a problem in getting the paint to stick. Would you please describe the process of preparing the grille to be painted (so I can ensure the body shop does the right thing). Also, has any of the paint come off your grille? What do you think about painting the bevelled part of the grill too?
