Waiting list for SC430's...
I live in a city of about 100K population. As far as I know mine is one of only 4 SC430's in town. I know of at least two others that are looking to get one but, there are just so few available within 500 miles. However, having to take my RX to a dealership, I drove the 85 miles north to the newest one in a city with a population of almost a million. That's when I found out how really scarce they are in this part of the world.
The dealership has been open about 3 years and they have only ever had a couple of SC430's in for oil changes and minor maintenance. Sales manager told me they have never had one on the lot for sale and have a waiting list of 5 buyers if they come across one coming in on trade.
It was almost like being a celebrity. "You have an SC430? Wow!", was a comment I got while standing beside the LFA in the showroom.
PS, although we had to schedule a follow up for the RX, I get a free oil change for having to make the return trip. Yay! I get to play Doral on the golf simulator again.

I, too, live in an area in Washington State with almost no SC430s. Seattle is 2-1/2 hours away, Spokane 3 hours. Even searching ads for those two cities, there are not that many ads for them and selection is limited. So, if I want an SC430, I have to look nationally and that's what I just did. I just closed the deal on an Indigo Ink Pearl 2002 with 53,000 miles and it soon will be aboard a truck headed my way. I bought because: No accidents, low miles, just 2 owners, regular dealer service, viewing many pictures, having the seller describe the car in lots of detail and getting a feel for who to trust. I won't see it "in the flesh" until it gets here.
Don't let distance deter you. It takes a while to learn the market, prices, what to look for and how to narrow the choices. The opening link on the SC430 portion of this website is a very helpful resource. Check out the on-line listings. While cars.com and autotrader are best known, the Yahoo link had its share of unique listings and prices might even be a bit better.
It does take a bit to get comfortable shopping on line. My first on-line purchase was in 2000 and I bought a 1997 Lexus LS400 on eBay. Scary, but at least it was still in mechanical warranty. We flew to Boise, met the seller and found we had bought a sweet ride for well below wholesale. We just sold that old girl three days ago. It was like losing a member of the family.
I hope this helps. I've been yearning for one of these beauties for years. I can't wait until she gets here!

Only a few people at the Lexus dealership "knew" the SC...
Surprisingly, TWO of my friends (in a VERY small town - only a Chevy and Ford dealership here!) also have a SC 430! One friend has had hers since 2002 - Indigo Blue, very low miles. The other is the champagne color. Not many miles, either. Mine is the only Pebble Beach
