Default Need to buy a new Battery....any suggestions?

Last week left my door open all night, think battery drained sometimes I need a jump start in the morning. Autozone says 85%(?) and pepboys says need new battery., who could be reliable to get it checked in my area (Los angles)? Probably need to buy a new, looking for suggestions to which brand and where to buy, based on your experience.

I switched over to the Duralast Gold from Autozone about 3yrs ago. I haven't had an issue with it, so i'm happy. I think I spent about $150. It comes with 5yr warranty, the 1st 36 months is a free exchange & the last 24 months are prorated. They now have a Duralast Platinum which I would assume to be better than the gold

I've always used Sears Die-Hard or Interstate batteries .....I've never had to buy more than one for any car or truck I've ever owned (and I keep my cars for at least ten years). We just put a Die-Hard Gold (top of the line) in my wife's 2006 Crossfire a few weeks ago for about $150. It had a cheap aftermarket battery in it (we bought it about six months ago....supposedly with a "New" battery) . Cheap insurance.

Down here in Florida, average (cheap) batteries are usually only good for about three years due to the heat... mine just keep cranking for years and years....IMHO, you can't go wrong with either one.

I run the Toyota equivalent of the Lexus battery in all of my Lexus vehicles. Toyota Trustart with 84 month warranty. OEM product without the Lexus sticker on it. Buy them right at the local Toyota dealership. They've been fantastic batteries- and this coming from me who used to work for Interstate Batteries...

mrblister- The group size for the Lexus SC430 is a group 48 with OE CCA of 585-625 rating. An Interstate equivalent is MTP-H6 Megatron Plus or an Interstate MTP-91 as an alternate. I don't have the Toyota part number at this time but again the Group size needed is Group 48 for the SC430. As to price- I purchased a Toyota Truestart Group 24f standard post 575 CCA battery for my 2002 Lexus LS430 Oct. of 2012 for $116.58 out the door with my old battery for a core. I'm sure prices have gone up a little in that timeframe, but could probably pick one up for your SC430 at a Toyota Dealership for around $150.00 I'm guessing... Again, if Toyota doesn't have it available, you can go with the Interstate Megatron Plus MTP-H6 Group 48. Both are good batteries. I also have no qualms with the Sears Die Hard battery either. I have had good luck with all three of these. Update: I believe the part number is 00544-MF24f-575 (the 575 is the cca).

Thanks my battery failed last Saturday and I went with the megatron plus for 154.00. Its cca was rated 735 and its 30 months. I had called the dealership and that is the battery that they use to replace in the sc430 they just wanted 275.00 for it .

Excellent choice mrblister... The additional CCA is nice to spin that starter quickly. The prices at the Lexus Dealer are quite high obviously.

Anyone has opinion about Pepboys,

Bosch Premium Performance Battery Group Size H6/L3/48
760CCA/910CA - RESERVE MIN = 120 - OE CCA: 625
36/96 months warranty

$141.99 less 25% instant discount (6/30/14)

.

Prasha-- had Steve at luxury Motorworks put an interstate in my 2002 and 2 1/2 years later it was shot. I actually had Lexus put one in-5 years later when I sold it and no problems. My 2010 SC went dead last month and Lexus put a 7 year battery in under the warranty. If you use your roof a lot, it takes a really good battery. With luxlink, my top gets a real workout- especially with our weather in southern cal.

And as much as I loved my 2002, I have no regrets with the 2010. I just love the new stereo system. Prasha- I got a diesel pusher motorhome so we've been on the go quite a bit. We should try another get together one of these days. See how many we can get together. Hopefully more than 3 next time. I see so many SCs around here, you would think we could get more than three.

I remembered reading once if I unplug the battery, what ever is draining will reset. Now seems the battery holds the charge, 3 days and no need to jump start!. The morning cranking is few seconds delay (strange!) but during the day starts normal. I am holding back the purchase, but for how long?

Just installed a Varta Silver Dynamic E44 last weekend. Cost was exorbitant even for Australia at A$305 but an awesome battery. 780 CCA and a 3 year warranty.
