Shoot, got that right.

I am waiting for the seal to cure on the inside for now. And then the outer perimeter. My sub was deceptively looking OK and found out the cone was not even attached to the frame. A bunch of black crumbs and dust when I pulled the bottom seat. Sorry to find out how small the magnet is for the sub.

I would have opted to replace the sub instead of just a new foam insert. But too late now.

Good thing I am getting my seat belt cleaned while doing this speaker repair. That's the good thing.

Mandy, sorry, I saw this too late... I hope you finished. You are right about the speaker looking OK, until you inspected it. I did the same thing. Also, on the magnet...I would have replaced it to, however, I wasn't real happy with the replacement on the front door speakers, so I decided to keep the sub. One thing is for sure (for me), the sound was amazing...because I didn't have any before! :-)

What a huge difference now that I have the subwoofer working. It sounds solid and no distortion. So glad I bit the bullet and did it. I think my rear sides are still good. One of these days I will get to repairing the sides as well.

Our subs' cone eventually crumbles. The job is straight forward. However if you decide to get it done outside, it should not cost a lot.

I got my rear seat belts cleaned up, that's the best freebie.

Pics...

Ready to be cleaned up and ready to drop the new foam...

Installed! Look at the fresh looking seat belts, love it...

Other than the tell tale signs of crumbling black pieces lying on the floor, you might think everything's fine, but not! The whole cone was free floating in air. Hence the lack of umph and the infrequent clipping sound. Unless you are playing very loud and the song lacks the bass, you will never figure it out. As the new song goes...I am all about the bass!
