Default Upgrade to Mark Levinson SC 430 Stereo System

I upgraded my Lexus SC 430 Mark Levinson Stereo by adding a MTX series 8000 Subwoofer with an MTX amplifier. The ML system puts out about 40 watts per channel. This sub amp combo puts out a regular 500 watts per channel bass(rms) and you don't have to change out your ML system. You just go around it. The amp and speaker power the subwoofer only. The ML system powers everything else ! Together it sounds Great !!! and I didn't have to buy a whole new system.
First remove that ML paper 8" so called subwoofer. Next expand the mounting hole to 12" diameter. You can not go 15" but you could go 10" if you wanted. Next mount your new subwoofer, run your wires, replace seat, hook up amp and your good to go !

How did you tie into the existing system? A line out converter (LOC)? If so, what wires did you piggyback and where were they located? Any photos would be appreciated. Thanks

You can tie directly into the old wires from the subwoofer. The wires go into the line level input on the amp and back out to the new subwoofer. Your amp has to have line level inputs.

I mounted it on the right side where the storage bin in the trunk sits. although I though about centering the mount in the trunk as the amp is pretty cool looking.

I will post more pics. I am also going to replace the head unit with a double din touch screen and integrate the mark levinson system using the beatsonics MVA-12L interface. I will separately use the pre-amp outputs on that head unit to power my amp'd Subwoofer. I will post it all.

...so Bump did you mount a 12in sub in the hole ? You mentioned cutting the diameter, but didn't say what size sub you used. I also went this route with a Rockford Fosgate P2 10in sub & Rockford Fosgate Prime1 amp(500watts), but I used a probox.I was thinking about going up to a 12in sub & possibly mounting it in the factory location just as you did

Bump:

I am going to follow your lead and do the exact install you did. Could you please provide a picture of where you mounted because it is hard for me to envision the mount. Also, where did you purchase your amp from as I want to make the same purchase
