BTW, based on the color of your fluid, I'd have your trans flushed immediately.

No mention of timing belt or transmission flush.

The chassis has been lubed three times tho.
I bet the Alderson Lexus service dept had a party when this car left town for Vegas!

It is also a good idea to consider the other fluids; brake, power steering and anti-freeze. They will all become contaminated over time due to metal rubbing against metal and chemical reactions.
Changing the fluids removes those impurities and will help to insure many costly repair free miles!

That was my first thought when seeing how dark that fluid is with relatively low miles that someone added motor oil to the transmission fluid or some kind of incompatible transmission fluid to what was already in there and there was a reaction. You may want to have that transmission fluid analyzed to see if it is the right fluid and if there is any damage. Then again it is using that W trans fluid and that may be normal, who know but I do know of someone who put motor oil in their transmission along with the remaining trans fluid and it turned black after a couple years.

I also fully expect that once the fluid has been mostly swapped out that it would stay clearer for longer since the initial breakin contaminants will be gone.
Just did my 35K oil change. I skipped the transmission fluid change at 30K since I did a complete flush at 25K. 10K miles later, the fluid that came out is identical in color and clarity to new WS fluid side by side. I'm certain at this point that either age or breakin material was responsible for the factory fluid being so dark. If there was a problem with the transmission that made the fluid dark after 25K miles, it would have at least darkened some over the last 10K miles but didn't.

Do you mean you just drained the fluid and it was as red as the new fluid?

BTW, your transmission is just fine!

Yes, it came out as clear and red as new fluid putting it in the same plastic water bottle as I pictured in my original post #1.

To me this indicates more the probability that it was breakin material rather than time since it's already been 18 months since I flushed it at 25K miles.

You are meticulous about changing fluids which means you should never have an issue...

I'm wondering why nobody is mentioning changing the transmission filter. I get the pan has magnets in it. Even if the magnets caught every pice of metal there is still non metal fibers from the clutch packs and bands. There is really not that much surface area on the transmission filter as compared to the engine oil filter. I worry about reduced fluid flow through the filter causing a drop in line pressure. If there is a drop in line pressure you could get more slipping of the clutches. Due to insufficient pressure against the clutch piston. Just my thoughts. To me it would be like changing the engine oil and only pouring the used oil out of the filter then reinstalling it.

Cole, you are spot on and it should be changed just like an oil filter. I purchased one right after the car purchase and will get around to it one of these days.
It has been posted that these tranny pans are difficult to remove.
To be honest, this is my first Japanese vehicle that has a filter but then again, my previous four vehicles were
95 accord 217k sold
04 Tacoma 160k, son driving
06 Odyssey, 88k sold
07 civic hybrid, 120k my daily driver
They do not have filters, yet all automatic.
