Default Independent Repair Shop in Houston

I have posted this in the GX forum. And, I will ask here too as both have V8s.

I would like to get the TB/water pump service done on my 2006 GX. I have all the parts from Sewell. Any recommendation on a reliable independent shop that specializes in Lexus/Toyota vehicles that folks have used here for the timing belt service?

Also, do you all get the cam and crank seals changed at the same time when you get the TB service done?

Thanks.

I got a quote from Clear Choice on the SW freeway of ~1000 earlier this year when I replaced mine. It's supposedly a group of ASE Lexus techs that came together and opened up their own business. They copied the entire business model from the dealerships. The only difference is you get a toyota for a loaner instead of a Lexus. I ended up doing it at a friend's shop for 450.00, but I don;t really know if I would go back there.

You might also try the toyota dealerships around town, some CL members have gotten lower prices there. As far as the seals are concerned, I don;t think they need to be replaced unless they're leaking. But visual inspections isn't possible until everything is broken down. Good luck

Thanks. I have received a quote from clear choice. It is much higher than what i have read in these forums that other members have paid for a similar service in other cities.

I am looking for a reliabe shop to chane the timing belt, water pump, TB pulleys, hydraulic tensioner, drive belt, thermoset, radiator hoses, PCV and, possibly spark plugs. Also, intend to get the cam seals and crank seal, especially if leaking.

Keep the suggestions/recommendations coming for other shops.

I have a mechanic in Dickinson who I use for my SC and my wife's GX. He specializes in high performance and specialty cars and has also helped me on my Corvette. He did my SC's timing belt just after I bought it last year. PM me for his number if you like.
