Default Finally found the perfect SC430..BUT 1 Major Problem

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Sorry it's not one which is providing too much value!

I'm new here, but not new to lexus. I'm a member of another board as well. I have an IS300.

I'm looking for a weekend car, something fun to drive around. I've been all over the map and back from Porsche 986, 996 911's, M3, CLK AMG, AMG s55, 335i, 350z, g35 coupes, s2000, IS350, WRX the list goes on.

I've settled on a SC430 primarily for the unique factor, reliability and factory hard top. Next in line was a 996 911's but I'm not sure I'm ready to own a car that may need 5-10k+ in maintenance/repairs...one day

That being said I found a great car:

- $15k
- 2002
- 95k Miles
-1 OWNER
- Great Service Records according to carfax
- Non rust belt
- The interior I'm looking for (Beige)
- Superbly Clean in and out. The service records show a consistent trend of dealership detail.

BUT IT'S LIGHT BEIGE/CAMPAIGN! Ugghhhhhhhhh

I've been frantically looking online for "tuned beige SC430s" to see what it has the potential to be!

Does anyone on here have tuned beige SC430? I'd love to see pics!

What's everyones thoughts on this color? Personally I feel it's a lil....girly..... good for my wife, bad for me!

Thanks!
Dennis

Dang

They're just so hard to come by..especially cars with a solid record

I guess you're right though, if the color doesnt work it's not a match. Color combo is probably the primary focus.

Well, I guess I'll remain patient and keep looking!

............back to being a lurker

Get them to $14k out the door and do a color change.

I agree with Mark's suggestion. Buy and repaint. If you really feel like trickin" it out in the long run, there's always vinyl wrap. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-4...u-like-it.html & <Warning: MUTE your speakers.>

Its tough to find a color you may want, but I would say if everything else, such as condition and price is a steal I would go for it, ONLY because miles and condition is not something you can easily change, but paint in the long run can be fixed.

Plus... there's always hot pink plastidip. Not sure how long it really holds up without peeling/chipping, maybe a couple of years. Vinyls probably hold up a little better when professionally installed. Not sure about moisture getting trapped underneath and causing rust issues down the road, though.

Now gold plastidip on wheels doesn't look half bad... has anyone ever tried gold plastidipping their pie plates? I'd be interested to see it. Ironically I'm a Photoshop veteran, but very lazy.

LOL amen... I was just being ridiculous. I really am intrigued to start playing with this plasti-dip stuff, though. So many ideas for around the house. Maybe I'll get some and plastidip my lawn mower or my bike, to start.

Hmm, I've never heard of plastidip until now! I'm not sure how I feel about it. Most of the colors appear to be a matte. I don't mind the white.

The problem with repainting the car is, in order to do it right it will cost around $4k..engine bay, door jams etc.

Tomorrow I'm going to test drive the car... I probably won't make the purchase though :/

Plastidip does look pretty neat, I may try it on my bike too!

Definitely test drive it, at least you'll get a feel for the SC430's. That's what I need to do locally, as well. I'm sure I'll be blown away... I'd be amazed if the ride and handling wasn't any better than my current whip... LOL

Default About plasti dip

about plasti dip.. I actually did my M3 matte white.. its definately a very strong and durable product, depending on the amount of layers also but i have taken the car at very high speeds and its great protection.. My M3 is originally black and to bring it to white it required atleast 10 coats.. but I learned that it can be done more properly with a grey base coat as a primer and then 4 coats of white.. Saves amounts of plasti dip and also turns out smoother. The most important thing i learned is that the car has to be prepped really properly, meaning every unreachable area should be covered and the rest should be applied thick so its easily peelable later. I had it on for about 7 month in very cold winter and very hot summer, then peeled it off after and the paint was mint here are some pics... i dont think i would plasti dip an SC since its a luxury car, or if i would it would be a pearl white only.. but im happy with the car the way it is..
