Side Mirror Questions

Side Mirror Questions
So I've got two questions regarding the side mirrors on the different years of our SC430's.
Firstly, I stopped at my favorite restaurant while in KC, Chipotle, and parked next to a silver SC430 with white interior. I noticed it had the Pebble Beach badges but def had the round normal tail lights, therefore making it a 2002-2005 model. This vehicle had turn signals in the side mirrors. Is this normal for all the 2002-2005 Pebble Beach models? I was confused on whether that was an aftermarket add-on and/or did all the standard 2006+ models have the turn signals in the side mirrors? I never took notice, to be honest, but now I'm interested if I can upgrade mine? If anyone can direct me to the proper parts and possibly a DIY install, I would appreciate it.
Second question: Has anyone ever installed or heard of a DIY to put in side mirrors that fold inward? I used to have a '97 Honda Accord which had this feature, and it was truly awesome. Epecially for tight parking spots when you can expect people to walk between vehicles like a parking garage, or even street parking, like that of downtown Chicago. Would have been great foresight if Lexus has thought of something similar. I'm always worried someone is going to knock my mirrors off if I don't get out and physically fold them in.
Anyway, thanks in advance for all replies, especially those that direct me to mirrors that have both functions for my 2002 SC430 with a DIY. ;-)

I'm not sure about the turn signal but with regards to the folding mirrors, our currently do that, manually, somewhat.
The LS430 has automatic folding mirrors when you turn off the car. I wonder if the LS430's mirrors would fit on the SC430? (I would like that also, even though it is just one more thing to go wrong.)

Turn signals on side mirrors are definitely aftermarket or JDM. Folding mirrors, I do not think we have them here. In Asia where parking is a luxury, they have equipped their cars with folding mirrors for easier parking.

Wow...steep. But at least they can be had.

I have seen SC430's for sale in England and they all seem to have the folding mirrors as well as evidence by the extra button on the mirror switch - where our's just have the extra little dimple. Mirrors were redesigned for model year 2009 that incorporated the turn signal light on the outside and are a big bigger in dimensions. The Pebble Beach edition in 2009 was silver with an ecru and black interior and would definitely have had the new mirrors...is it possible the car you saw was a 2009? Mirrors for model year 2010 saw the addition of a puddle light on the underside..... While the mirrors for 09 and 10 appear the same on first glace, the 10's have that additional feature. One day I hope to add the 10 mirror to my 08!

I would dare to assume that they can be mounted (the new sides with our older cars). They would have kept the base the same and adapted a new side mirror, speculation. Puddle lights, wiring wise, anything is possible, you would tap the courtesy lights but you will not have the soft on and soft off effect. It is on or not, again speculation. Signals, it should stay the same.
VVTIbob (anybody hear from him?) did his puddle lights not from the side mirrors but his came from the lights he put in in his rockers. Check his sig, there's a link (I have not tried it for a while though).

I believe that in the initial thread, the car you saw was a 2009 PB model. They are silver with a mix of ecru/black interior (mixed on the seats as well). It is a special interior that the 2009 regular SCs do not have. They also have the signal mirrors, but I'm not sure about the puddle lamps. No SCs have power folding mirrors. I will check my 02 and 10 to see if the mirror base is the same when I have a chance, probably this weekend.

European or at least UK SC 430's have power folding mirrors probably because of our narrow streets.
Great to see you have an 2010, we didn't get that model over here.

OK, I guess when you asked about the size of the base you referred to the part of the mirror that actually attaches to the SC. They both measure the same, though the base does have curves and rounded sections that are slightly different from each other. The first 2 pics are front view and the 3rd and 4th are mirror view. I will also post bottom and top views as well.

Thanks so much Solman! Those are great photos! I have one question since you're planning on getting rid of the '02. Could you please measure the triangle on each mirror for me, please? Legs and Hypotenuse. I would really appreciate it. I want to make sure they are they same (as your photos indicate they are) before i order a pair from Sewell Lexus. Thanks so much if you can.
