The value of a car is what you can sell it for. Low miles, proof of service, and proof of treatment can get a higher price, almost always. And not from a dealer. When I bought my SC, I had two honda del sols to sell. One was sold for double KBB high retail and the other for TRIPLE high retail. Pictures on autotrader sold both of them with calls from all over the country. One of them was someone who flew in from 800 miles away. Two months ago, I sold my wife's infiniti EX for over KBB retail. The funny thing was, I wasn't that crazy about selling it, so priced it where I didn't think it was going to move-a month later with cash in hand, I bought a new car that was 5 years newer for only 6 grand more. A car is always worth what someone will pay.

I would add that IMO this statement is only half right.............a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it AND what someone is willing to accept for it. You have to have both sides in order to define the worth of an item. We sometimes forget that a seller needs to agree to the price for it to really define the worth. Normally, I find it is buyers who make this omission.

thanks for the heads up , I would really be pissed if I had won the bid and the owner refused to sell.

Good thing I checked or I would have owned that car instead of my SC. BTW, solid advice from rktinc in my opinion.
Neither CarFax or AutoCheck is accurate, I used to have a 06 Tundra, I bought it from a small repair shop and the seller told me that he got it from insurance auction so it was involved in an accident. And you know what there was no record on either websites.. I got rid of the Tundra after 3 yrs because the gas mileage was terrible and did not have any problem selling it.
