A while ago I had the Tein CS with an EDFC installed in my SC430, '02. I optioned not to get the car lowered as I have a driveway bump which was too high to clear (nowadays it has been lowered).

I mainly drove the car in the city and actually liked the feel of it. I had the EDFC mainly set between 0 and five. I was/am looking to have less body-roll and an overall stiffer feel. I wanted to get closer to the Porsche Cayenne which my wife drives.

A few weeks ago I had to go on a longer trip with the car and had a rude awakening on the free-way. The car was extremely bouncy and expressed a body-roll worse than before the change of the suspension. I honestly started to feel unsafe if in a turn on the highway the usual uneveness came up and when I was going 80, it felt as the car was moving side-ways following the g-forces before it got grip again. The feeling remained even when i changed the settings and continued driving.

Something may have broken or I just didn't realize this behavior within city limits before I went on the trip, but I sure feel it now. It is frankly annoying.

I spoke to Tein (very helpful). They mentioned that the suspension is designed for the Japanese market an is intended to be softer, but on the hardest setting to have more body-roll and bounce than the original? That was a surprise.

Do you share the same feeling or do you have an idea what could be done to improve it? Did I buy the wrong suspension?

i went with Bilstein Sports Shocks front and rear. the sports are 30% stiffer then the HD's I had Bilstein reduce them to 10% stiffer. I also used the Swift Springs used in Japan they are very light springs and softer ride. with the Swift Springs drop is .8 front and .6 rear Bilstein front and rear I now have a great ride and handling is great just what I wanted. what I learned through the years was light springs and stiffer shocks on stock cars . I was heavy into drag racing what we did was use 80/20 shocks front quick lift in front coming down slow. rears were 50/50 rears pushing down hard with light springs in rear from the front up quick great traction. almost got that setup in my car but I don't drag race my 430sc this combo works great in my car.

It could be because coilovers are designed to lower your car. I'm lowered on Tein CS and I don't have any issues with handling. It performs much better than the stock suspension.

Same here, I run the CS with the EDFC and usually have it set 5-front/4-rear. No bounce or roll and I have gone to middle 3 digits speeds. I'm also on 20's with 285 on the rear though.

It still should be stiffer than stock even if you're at stock ride height. Might try to half turn on the coilovers and see if the lower center of gravity helps any,.

I put about 40k on mine typically driving around 80 mph. I didn't experience anything like you are mentioning.

(I used stock shock settings which lowered the car 1/2 inch. I think I was at 4 on the front and 3 on the back.)

Got my Tein CS installed last year and lowered about 2". The ride fell firmer than stock, but much responsive. I drove 80% city, but didn't have the unbalance feeling. Its actually much stable than stock.

I'm still driving your wonderful sc430 with Tein CS :-)
The car now has 215k with same suspension sir.
Tein CS is great for our sc430 IMO.

..hey Matt, I'm with all the guys here, I'm lowered on Teins & the ride is great. No bounce or roll. I do occasionally feel some harshness in the ride, if I get on a stretch of bumpy roads

Finally got the car lowered, thanks to our Toyota dealer in Vegas. They surprisingly service/install Tein products.

The change was really good, much better than before. Have driven just a few miles so far but the feel is clearly improved. Will take it out for a bit longer test drive.
