Mileage is quite high.... but I guess it seems fair for the price.. Just drive the car and see if it drives properly.. Lexus are known for there wobble and shakes so take it atleast up to 140 otherwise itll be a big headache trying to figure what its coming from + suspension parts arent cheap!.. and I would check if the engine is burning oil. When was the timing belt last done? as well as oil change for transmission and differential also brake fluid...

So I'm considering buying a 2004 SC430 but it has 196,XXX miles. Is that way too high for an SC especially for that year? The interior and exterior looks great for that kind of mileage. I guess what reeled me in to purchase this particular one is the price. A flat $8000. One owner, clean title, no accidents, and owner claims "highway mileage."
I'm in quite a pickle because I was going to pull the trigger on a 2000 GS400 with 155,XXX miles for about $5000 today...
Anything to look out for when buying a high mileage SC like this one?

If yours doesnt need any of that, bet you could go another 50-100k. And if its a great car and you don't mind putting another couple grand into it while owning it...go for it. You could do way worse

Both are form the UZ series, just that 3UZ-FE happen to be newer & bigger

If it had service records and the work was done, I'd go for it. 200k miles is a whole different on a car that was maintained and one thats not. If it was a one owner that seals the deal-either it was taken care of or not. Also you can take it to a lexus dealer and get a decent check for about $200. That was the move when I bought my 6 year old (at the time) SC. No regrets here.

I daily mine without any problems. Wouldn't trade the top down/sport mode/solid feel for anything.

Thanks guys for all your inputs, seriously.
I have just checked out the GS400 but the exterior was in pretty horrible condition(bunch of little scratches and rock chips and liner in between doors and roof not lining up). Then when I floored the pedal, there was literally a 2 second lag before the car reacted. And also the car was vibrating a lot when it was in idle. I don't know if these things are normal but I'm thinking of passing on this car.
I am going to see the SC430 tomorrow in person, hopefully the car is in great shape(more concerned mechanically especially because of the mileage). If it is, I will post up some pics and join you fellow SC430 peeps!
