You've never rode in or driven an SC430 before have you? People who bought an SC430 did it for the driving with the top down and the sport button on. Try it and you'll understand. You'll make all the other stuff work.
I daily mine without any problems. Wouldn't trade the top down/sport mode/solid feel for anything.

Maybe its the way I wrote my last post made you think I Don't like the car, not so, and please don't take it that way.. but IMO for myself being 6'4" the car is a bit small for me.. Hope that clears up everything..

None of my GS's have the lag since my cars are in peak condition. I have driven other GS's with this lag, its not anything major, alot of people have this but No-one can actually pin-point the exact cause. I seen cars with low miles with this lag so Its not determinate on high miles. IMO, prob needs MAF cleaned and/or the TPS needs to be clean also.

...don't know if this will help any, but my 02' has 185k & no issues. I change the timing belt @ 90k intervals, the plugs every 2yrs,oil every 5k, & trans fluid every 40k. I also have set intervals to change the other fluids. But if the car you're considering has a good service record or proof of services, I think you should be ok. The only things I've had to replace, other than the regular maintenance stuff, has been a battery & a radiator.

It really depends on you also, I mean at that mileage I assume your going to keep the car for its remaining life. It definately is a great car, turns heads and has a very unique design, its the only japanese car I considered after having german cars. I was just annoyed with the suspension problems but other then that its a beauty! At 190k miles if it looks very clean, not alot of chips and scratches would mean the owner did atleast take care of it, but service records of fluid changes and timing belt work or other work is a must and a test drive ofcourse to see how the suspension feels and if there is any noises, clunks, rattles, shakes & wobbles!
At the end, if engine, transmission, differential, roof, electrical and any big component seems good and history is all check (doesnt involve any major work) and you do feel some shaking but you still want the car badly, I would consider getting inspection from lexus for leaks and well pretty much everything else then use that paper to lower that price.
Goodluck

Don't be concerned if the SC430 has a lagged accelleration response. That is the ECU's fault and not a problem. It "learns" how you drive and adjusts how it reacts to the pedal. You can either reset the ECU by a small process (no tools required) or disconnect the battery for a while (I don't recommend this method though), or you can just flip the switch on the console to PWR (or is it Sport?) and drive it that way. Or depending on the model, you can just push the gear shift off to the left and manually run through the gears (I believe that the 2004 has this feature).

Made the move after a file of full service records(from beginning of purchase to now) and a test drive. DAYUM she's a beauty, there are some rock chips and scratches on the front but other than that, exterior looks great. Previous owner got an 8K paint job done which was covered by insurance due to "windstorm." She drives GREAT, doesn't lag at all unlike the GS400 I test drove the other day. This guy is a doctor(radiologist) and he drove a great distance for work everyday. His house backed up the "doctor" resume, err mansion I mean. The interior does need some TLC as I am picky, there are no rips but wears and dirt marks on the seats get me annoyed. Will post up some pics after I give her a good wash later tonight.
As for now the car seems to good to be true. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and take care of my new baby girl, hopefully nothing major happens.
