Exclamation Help needed.

Hello all, I am a newbie here. I purchased a navigation screen unit from a salvage yard and want to replace my existing one. I have a 2002 SC430. Can someone please provide me with detailed instructions as to how to remove the wood panels and vents. I really do not want to damage anything. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

The search function is your best bet. Type in "nav screen replacement"

You'll see a thread from VVTiBob entitled "RADIO UPGRADE w/Steering Wheel Controls"
Very first post has a PDF with a zillion pictures and step-by-step instructions.

Good luck. From what I have seen, the disassembly is a bit tricky the first time, but actually pretty easy the second time.

I'll second the Radio Upgrade thread. It's all there (actually, it's in the PDF that Bob put together, the download link is in his post)

The only real tricky part is getting access to the top two bolts that hold the nav unit in. These are covered by the vent registers. If you are lucky when you pop out the wood trim the vents come out as units, without detaching the clips that hold the trim to the grills. I didn't realize that the registers could come out as individual units, and thought that you had to separate the black grills from the wood trim (you don't). If you try to separate the trim from the grill by trying to get the clips to release, the clips break (not all of them, it is always the same two). IF you can find the tabs that broke it is no problem to epoxy them back together. I'm not trying to scare you, just go slow when you get to that point and don't give in to the urge to get fierce and lever things out aggressively
