New Trunk Lift Supports
Like others have been posting, I needed new trunk lift supports. My '04 now has about 58K miles and the OEM lift supports wouldn't keep the trunk open. I purchased directly from LiftSupportDepot (dot com) for $17.55 each and $9.43 shipping to VA. They arrived very quickly in a tube. These supports have a black extension vs the silver OEM's.
As described the removal and installation was very easy - took about 10 min. I needed to use a rubber mallet to help the removal but the new ones snapped right in place. As another member suggested, I tied a string to the small standard screw driver in case I dropped it.
The trunk works better than it ever did. I do need to pull up to get it open and then it continues to open by itself. When I want to close the trunk I pull it down and then it continues on it's own and closes. Works great.
