Upon close examination, that car is the Lexus IS convertable. About 20K-30K less cost than the final SC430.

I wonder if Lexus got any kickback from the commercial... or if it was just an "accidental placement" type thing...

It is an IS-C.

These ads are well placed. I am sure Lexus was part of it. Everything you see in an AD is by design.

I work in advertising. Most likely, the car belonged to someone at the agency or one of the crew members. They just needed a reasonably nice car in the background that looked like it would be at a nice party. Neither Lexus nor Mars would have paid the other to have the car in the spot.
