Newbie needs help!
I just purchased a 2002 Sc430 last week. It appears the touchscreen for the navigation no longer works. I've found a replacement screen on eBay for $200. The previous owner never replaced the navigation disk so I would need to buy that as well. Here is my question, should I go through with this purchase or is there an aftermarket navigation screen that I can have installed in the same location as the stock navigation screen? I've seen ppl post upgraded navigations that replaces the radio below however I haven't seen any post that updates the navigation in the same location as the stock. Please help. If there a post that discuss this can you please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Doing a search on replacing the Nav with a newer unit yields a couple of posts a while back by a couple of the members that upgraded to the series 4 Nav unit from the series 2/3 that is in our 2002 cars. You should be able to find the newer series on ebay but be sure to get the information off of the posting first, as the later units are not compatible with the 2002 sound systems.
Here are a couple of links (with info from them) that should help guide you to the proper solution:

Well you guys peeked my curiosity on this one so I pulled the trigger and installed a 4th Gen in my 02 SC today. Only took about 45 minutes to pull the trunk garnish apart and install the new NAV drive, and put it all back together. I found donor NAV for $300.00 from a salvaged 06 LX470 and it even came with a Gen 4 DVD ver 5.1 still in it. Have to say the Gen 4 quite a bit nicer than my old Gen2/3.

All you need to do is install the 4th Gen drive/ECU and get a 4th Gen disk.
The newest disk version for all generations is 10.1 The part number for the 4th GEN NAV/ECU drive is 86841-50090. It doesn't matter if it was in a toyota or lexus as long as it is the correct part number.

Good luck and let us know what you wind up doing to fix your issues.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I really do appreciate it. I've seen those post but unfortunately none of them address replacing the screen, which appear to be my main issue. I've also found a DIY for replacing the screen for the IS 350 but it seems like I,m the only one who've had an issue with the screen stop working.
It seems like my only option is to replace the screen with another factory screen. I wish there was DIY available for the SC 430 that I can use for the screen to avoid having to pay for someone to install it. If anyone knows where a step by step is available please point me in the right direction.
