Default 2007 SC430 Stock muffler with resonators removed

I decided to remove the resonators and keep the stock muffler and see how the sound turns out. Well, I like it a lot. Pics below. Sound clip is on the way.

The sound is awesome and. I feel the car has better pickup off the line and on roll as well.

WOW- I have been under the car several times but never noticed how smashed those pipes are... I have been told by my lexus tech that the resonators are mainly to make the car not sound loud. I live in Va so removing parts that will be a pain in my behind every time I go to inspection, I will avoid. Removing the CATs is one of those. The replacement pipes look great!

I have read in other threads that the 3rd cat doesn't have an O2 sensor so removing it doesn't affect the emission test. So if deleted do you even need the Y-pipe? Others have eliminated the cat and use an X-pipe. Why can't we use seperate pipes straight back to the muffler with mandrel bends?

If the third cat is removed, there maybe a problem with smog check inspection, I may be wrong on this. Other than that, yes, you can run two separate pipes without the need of y-pipe to the muffler. I wonder who had done this and how the result turns out?

Those flat bends in the piping on the first pic, are really how it is when installed on the car?? I thought those got flattened because they were yanked off by the mechanic! If that is the case, then there must be all kinds of untapped flow and sound that can be added, that I had no clue about!

The x pipe is used to equalize the pressure, and scavenging on both banks. It does increase horsepower, and torque.

I had my resonators removed and also removed the factory tips in the back. New straight pipes like you did installed as well. My new tips are 4" inch round polished stainless double wall replacements. The sound is great! Not too loud but has that rumble when taking off from a stop.

Got my exhaust done, but I overdid it and lost a smidgeon of low end torque.. I removed the third cat, resonators, and ran x pipe with true dual pipes all the way to magnaflows in the back. I noticed on my stock exhaust it looked identical to the pic above. I can see that those pipes were crimped for a reason, to have enough back pressure for low end torque. I may just leave it as it is, since I plan to do other mods and get it tuned.

I have not heard any other SC's (in person) that are louder than mine - I had no clue it was going to be like this, but it sounds awesome.. I wish I had bigger tips on it. I really wanted to do 4" and mine are between 3.5" and 4".

I need to get a better video - mine gets a bit distorted, but at least you can get an idea of the exhaust tone I have been driving around with, along with this weapon r intake. I have been getting many looks from other SC owners.. lol

Love that sound, but I think the neighbors would want to kill me. I get up and leave for work very early in the morning. That would wake up the entire neighborhood. lol

If only you could turn it on or off somehow.

I made a new video last night with revving the engine up pretty good. Probably pissed off a few busy-body neighbors in the process but I should have a better video hopefully. I am posting it tonight along with pics of my exhuast system just after the installation.
