Mine is not working as well. I tore the radio assembly at least 4 times to work on several issues and in so doing especially on the 1st try, I pulled the wrong wires and unseated the connectors on the door switch (which contains the light). So now the light is off and I have to push hard to trigger the switch to open and close the Radio door. I really need to repair it and bring back the light. It is supposed to be on when the park lights are on.

The entire switch can be removed and this way the wires for the switch stay intact. There is a nylon wire tie that holds the wires to the connector If you pulled hard enough you must of dislodged the small connector that plugs in. if its hard to press the button then the switch housing is not all the way seated. When you look at the switch from the front now is the button you press lower then the surrounding if it is then you need to reseat the switch from the back

The entire black switch housing from the back has a tab on either side that you press and then rock the switch and housing out together. I am doing this from memory. I am pretty sure that's how it comes out. When its out it comes out as a unit the entire thing has the part you press to open radio. When its out you will just have the open hole in the wood visible. So when you push it back in it will seat and snap. The button you press will be higher then the surrounding wood as viewed from the front
