Default Nav dimness?

Hi - I have a 2005 SC430 - but when it's sunny - the screen is incredibly dim. Is this due to age (and if so where can I buy a replacement lcd cheaper than what my Lexus dealer will quote) or if not due to age - anything else I can do to resolve? Thanks.

When its sunny most screens are hard to read . that is why we have a tilt feature to adjust angle of screen for glare. Have you set the display contrast in settings to give you your brightess settings?

Hi- thanks for the reply. I have set the tilt and the contrast - but it's still hard to see. Thanks.

Does your screen have a screen protector on it. I have one on mine and it does cut down on the brightness but it saves your screen, When ever I am traveling and need the gps I have the top up so I can see it fine.

The SC 430 NAV screen is the very dim compared to every other factory Nav screen I've ever owned. Poor brightness and poor contrast. My LS and CT NAV screens are 10 times easier to read.

I had a 2005 Toyota Prius and it was also almost as difficult as the Sc screen to read on sunny days. The software on the Prius was identical to the SC. I think it's just the nature of the beast, being 10 year old technology.

At the risk of stating the obvious, you have used the on screen adjustment for brightness and contrast, right?
