$10 SC Key Upgrade ( Pictures)
#31
I have 2 working sets of remote 'guts' - one in an existing key and one that I found under the seat when I bought the car (no key, just the guts). If I buy these switch blade keys (or other replacement keys) and have the blades cut, there is more programming that I need to do, right (some sequence of key turns, opening/closing doors, blah, blah)? That is, these are smart keys with imbedded chips, correct?

Cool. As long as the remote is currently working on your car, you just switch the remote pod into the new shell, with no reprogramming!!
I'm in!!!! Just purchased off the 'bay' and e-mailed them a picture of my key blade using my Android phone. They determine the key code from the picture, and then cut the blades according to the code. Nice process (assuming my keys work when I get them!!) 2 keys, cutting, extra battery, free shipping, for a greenback under forty. Looks like a deal to me!

The key itself is slightly bigger than a factory one from like MB or something, but it's ok. There are 2 screws in the back the hold it together, within a week, one of the screws came out. No big deal for me since the other screw held in place.
IMO, these were great upgrades from the factory keys and incredibly easy to install. The hardest part was taking the pictures and making sure it was clear enough for them to "decipher".

Lead Lap
That is a good deal.

Just as reference. I bought from them recently using an iphone to take a picture of my keys. Sent them several pictures, and they got the key cut perfectly.

Report:
I received my two new 'switch blade' keys described in this thread. Inserted my two remotes from my existing keys. Voila!! They both work flawlessly.
The key-cutting based on a picture from my phone made this all so simple. With existing working remotes - no programming. Two cool keys for under $40 with very little effort. This outfit is highly recommended (great communication from them)!

When I bought my car it did not come with any keyless remotes, I have been looking on ebay and there are lots for sale, do I need to just look for a 3 button remote from about the same year?
I am looking to add LUXLINK to my ride (already bought it) so I want to make sure I get the correct remote.
Thanks,
Kelly ( a different Kelly)

I purchased 2 of these and had the keys cut at Lexus... Works great. If you don't mind getting switch-bladed in your pocket once in a while then this is for you. Personally I don't care for them for that reason.

There are two tiny screws that hold the shell together. They are deeply recessed. One screw recess is covered by a thick oval sticker that replicates the Lexus logo. The other is rectangular and has numbers that I suspect are FCC related.

Gotcha. Thank you. Sounds like the dealer sells them. I hope.

missing remote
So, when I bought the car, it only had the valet key, so I am looking to purchase some used remotes off ebay and then do the flip. But my question is what is the original remote. THere are three different types on this pic.
