Tire Rotation - 2 brands/types....?
Hello,
I need to get my tires rotated, but here is the problem. When I got new tires, the fronts went out first, and I thought the rears were OK, however, 2 weeks later, they went out too. So, I got 2 new tires in the front (Sumitomo HTRs) and then 2 weeks later I got 2 new for the rear (Continental extreme contact DWS).
The reason for the 2 different types was that init ally I just had to get 2 new ones (blow out), and then i was able to research and get the 2 new ones for the rear. In the future, I will get 4 all around of the same brand, but, that brings me to my question:
How should I rotate these tires now that I have 2 different brands/types? Same as usual....back tires straight up to the front, and bring the fronts to the back and cross them?
Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks!

The Sumi's are a directional tire so you can't flip sides without remounting the tire on the wheel (look for the arrow on the sidewall). The Conti's are asymmetrical tread so OUTSIDE is stamped on the sidewall intended to be the outboard side of the tire. I'm pretty sure that the Conti's are not directional, so you could go side-side. Helpful if you are seeing inside wear from the negative camber on the SC430.

Hmm, ok thanks guys. I'll make sure they rotate them properly and keep the directionals in the right direction. I'm trying to find the source of a humming noise, that I thought was tire-related. I think it may/could be the rear bearings. Not sure though.

Maybe because you are running 2 different types of tires?
