Default big brakes upgrade for the SC430

Anyone recommend an upgrade brakes setup for the SC430 that is not too costly?

I have LS400 brakes with stock LS400 pads with stainless steel brake lines on my SC400, and they work great on the SC400.

I'm finding that the stock brakes on the SC430 are pretty weak even after a set of new pads and brake fluid flush.

On the SC400 I am running 19" rims with a offset 35mm. There is about 2-3mm clearance between the brake calipers and the spoke rims.

You just answered your own question. The cheapest alternative would be the LS400 or the Supra brakes.

yeah you answered your own question.

our car has a similar design in suspension components. RCA front and rear bolts right up to the sc430s from the GS guys. you can run ls400 brakes on our SC430 with the front RCA blocks. or direct bolt on with the Supra calipers (besides shaving the shield)

Sorry to wake up an older thread but I am also interested in the upgrade but didn't really understand the RCA block requirement. I have Tanabe lowering springs installed - do I need the RCA blocks to bolt on the LS400 front calipers?

Thanks much

Yes you still need the RCA blocks. The overall length of the Ls400 calipers is longer than our standard factory brake calipers. So when you install the Ls400 calipers they will come in contact with the outer tie rod ends without the RCA blocks. The blocks allow for clearance of the calipers by raising the whole wheel assembly. Otherwise you will have to shave down the calipers where they come into contact with the outer tie rod ends.

You will also need Ls400 rotors (factory or aftermarket) because the factory Sc430 rotors are too small in diameter. The RCA blocks come in different sizes. I believe 1.25 inches (32mm) should be more than enough clearance. Also, the size of the RCA block will lower your front suspension by that same amount. So for example, you brought a 1 inch RCA block. Once installed, your front end will be lowered by 1 inch. If you have coilovers you can adjust your rear height to compensate for this change. But with lowering springs you cannot unless you buy shorter springs. Good luck.

I would just put on some drilled and slotted rotors, stainless brake lines and upgrade the pads. It made the world of difference on my SC

Just as an FYI, a BBK will not increase stopping power, make you car stop quicker or add help you in any regular situation. It will help if you track your car but other than that the best thing you can do is get really good tires for stopping. That being said...BBK looks awesome!
