If any of you guys have RFTs I highly recommend increasing the air pressure from 33psi to 38psi on all four. I did it yesyerday and the ride quality is much more "lexus like" now.

I just increased mine to 38psi, but the only difference I notice is when I drive over a coin - I can tell if it's heads or tails.

BTW ... my service rep said they are recommending 36 psi.

When I had the run flat 18's on my service advisor also recommended 36 psi.. Hope that helps!

That contradicts with the fact that the new Vettes is dumping the runflats, at least thats what I heard....I may however be wrong, but they just couldnt keep up with the cars in its class using standard tires (please dont get into the issue of it beating all cars for 1/3 of the price) I meant it generally. The corvette is a fine car, you know how many people you meet with a car like that. Before you know it youll be hanging out with the entire service department.

your tires will wear out unevenly (more on the outside) if underinflated.

I think the biggest advantage I feel with higher pressure in the tires is in the amount of tramming the car does. At 33 psi, mine trams like crazy. It feels like 40 mph gusts are suddenly coming across the road without warning. The car actually veers on the freeway before I can correct it. At 38 psi, the tramming is a lot less. I don't feel like I'm going to get jarred into another lane.

What's tramming?

Is it that squirrely feeling you get when driving over grooved roads?

My guess is that it has something to do with feeling like you are being thrown around in those ruts left by semi-trucks but I could be wrong....

I avoid tire designs that have several grooves that travel in the same direction as the tire because they act "squirrely" on grooved roads, ie, the rear end seems to move around on its own, kinda like a squirrel's tail.

Yep, its from the ruts left in the road by trucks, etc. At low tire pressures, even ruts which are not visible can be enough to make the car's steering shift from side to side as if some invisible hand was pulling the steering wheel side to side suddenly with a few pounds of force. Raising the tire pressure greatly reduced the car's tendency to follow the ruts.

I took the advice and raised my psi to 36. It is much better, no 'tramming" on the highway. I also noticed a better ride over potholes and sewer caps.
