Aftermarket Shocks & Struts by Ultima
I need to replace my rear struts. I found these on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/270829731009...ht_1916wt_1087
Anyone ever heard of these? From what I have been able to find, they are manufactured by Monroe? I can't find any other manufacturers of rear struts for my 03 unless I switch to coil overs, which is not in my plans at the moment, and these are a lot less expensive then buying Lexus struts.

Important to have matched set of 4 shocks
Why would anyone put in shocks in the front or back that have different characteristics than the matched set of 4 shocks ?
The ebay shocks may be a good short term solution , 4 shocks for $200 is relatively inexpensive.
Google Ultima and it appears they are an Aussie company. That website does not reference Monroe. There does not appear to be any real connection with Monroe other than folks on forums who believe there is a connection. They dont have the KYB or Tokico reputation that are often times used by Toyota for their vehicles........
also, I checked the two sources in the previous post (rockauto.com or autohausaz.com) and I did not see SC430 shocks for either front or back.

What are the OEM shocks on the SC430? What is so special about them that they are not stocked by many mfrs/vendors ?

From what it seems very few 430sc were made. Except for coil-overs and springs, or stock shocks. I don't want megans coil-overs I just don't like them. and don't want to spend a ton of money. So I have to make my own strut and spring setup. Swift Springs and Bilstein struts in the front revalved for the 430sc. The rears I'm working on them.

I finally ended up purchasing the front shocks from Park Place Lexus and the rear struts from Sewell Lexus. All 4 totaled $450.00 shipped and my mechanic installed them for $320.00. I was surprised to see "KYB" on the oem shocks.
Park Place screwed up my order and the mechanic realized it after my car was up on the rack. He had to order one from Advanced Auto which cost me $160.00 (and it was the same exact "KYB" shock that I purchased from Lexus) Park Place will only give me a refund for the wrong shock, so I am out the extra $110.00.

The ride has improved tremendously. I am going today or tomorrow to have my alignment checked.
Online parts houses do carry the KYB front shocks for our SC430's. I have only been able to find the rear struts available from Lexus unless you move to coil overs.
The original link at the top when I started this thread is interesting. At first in the EBay description, it stated their shocks and struts would fit the SC430, now in their description, the SC430 is no longer listed as one of the compatible models.

The front shocks from Park Place Lexus are part number 48510-80238 according to their invoice and these shocks were stamped with the KYB on them.

Interesting that
The rear struts from Sewell Lexus were part number 4853080037PC according to their invoice ( i didn't look at the struts to see if they were KYB ).
