I have a 2003 Lexus SC430. The keys keep breaking on me. I have a new authentic Lexus key shell and I need it cut. One Lexus dealer refuses to cut it (since they didn't sell me the key shell). Another wants $100. Any idea where I can have it cut for a fair price in Los Angeles?

toyota might be worth a try. it'll also need to be programmed. if you search this forum, you can find directions.

Thanks, I'll try Toyota. No programming needed. I will use the guts from the old key.

by "guts" do you mean the remote transponder? I don't think that's what needs programming. Isn't there is still a security chip in the key that will need to be registered (programmed) to the ECU just as for a key without the remote transponder (e.g., the valet key)??

The transponder is in the guts, not the key shell. The key shell is just cheap plastic and the metal key part. Without the guts, it won't start.

I got my from eBay about 2 years ago. 2 for around $60. I just sent them a good photo of my key, they send 2 keys cut with new plastic housing. Works great.
