Stereo Upgrade Questions
Looking at upgrading the electronics on the SC and have a couple of questions. I want to go with and in-dash double DIN with GPS and Aux Video output similar to the Kenwood DNX7180. I will change out/upgrade all speakers, amps, GPS etc. since I no longer plan to use the stock items. Not worried about steering wheel controls since I don't use them now.
Questions:
1) Is it possible to change the existing NAVI screen out to an aftermarket screen, take the video output from the Kenwood and display it without losing functionality of the open/close of the NAVI door? Not looking for touchscreen just video.
2) Do I need to be aware of any existing GPS/NAVI functions that will create issues for the other electronic systems if I do a complete (end to end) upgrade? Cruise Control? Idiot Lights on the Dash? etc
Thanks!

Redliner8,
Thanks for the input. I had already seen the thread you linked to.
Here's the difference:
The upgrade by djmichel used the existing amp, speakers and Navi. None of which I plan to use. No offense to djmichel or Lexus. They did an incredible job. BUT the electronics in this car were designed at least 11 years ago......
I am planning on gutting the NAVI, ML head unit and Amp, speakers and GPS unit
Installing:
1) head unit
2) Amps
3) Speakers
4) replacement video screen for the NAVI location
5) backup camera
6) satellite radio
7) USB music input
That way I will have complete control of the finished product. Not into compromises if I am going to invest this kind of time wiring the system up myself. Could care less about the money. Just want to make sure I get it right.
I have wiring diagrams and manuals. I am an engineer with an electrical license and can go it alone, but I figured the forum was a great starting point.
Any input valid and accepted!
