Default Wet trunk???

I have only had my 04 for a couple of months and have had very little rain till last weekend. We had 8-9" in a day. I noticed today the back of the trunk (closest to the rear seats) was wet. Is this normal or something I need to have checked? Maybe bad seal?

There have been a few threads on trunk leaks like this one:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...nk-screen.html

Three causes usually mentioned: 1. Seals (as noted clearly in link above), 2. Adjustment of trunk or roof, 3. Plug drain holes in water channel that runs around trunk

Yeah. I'd be willing to bet it was #1 or #3 that kjcole mentioned.

Rubber seals eventually get hard, brittle after a while...especially if not treated properly.

And if the trunk doesn't get wet with a little rain, but does with a lot of rain...that sure sounds like clogged drains to me.

Open the trunk lid and look for the gray plastic funnel-looking things that are located near the trunk hinge mechanism (towards the back seats). Get yourself a huge pitcher of water and slowly pour the water into them. The water should drain out onto the ground. If the water never drains out (or drains out VERY slowly)...there you go.

A couple things to check...

Is the trunk screen (not sure of its name) wet when you let it roll all the way in and then pull it out?

Reach behind and under the back seats? Are they wet? You may even want to take them out.

I had two issues and needed to have my seal that attached around the car body replaced and then re-sealed again.

I actually took my back seat out and had someone spray water on the back window and I saw it coming in.
